Best trim level or model name

I know I'm slightly biased, but I do think GM got it right with the Denali name.

Nobody says they have "an Eddie Bauer" when referring to their Expedition. But you get a lot of people saying "a Denali" when talking about their Yukon. It started out as only a Yukon trim level, then expanded to the Sierra, Acadia, Envoy, and whatever other bullshit crossovers they make - and I think it worked in that people recognize "Denali" as being the top trim level very easily.

I don't know if Eddie Bauer is better or worse equipped than a Lariat or King Ranch or Raptor. I know it's nicer than a XLS or XLT because it's words, not letters. Is Laramie nicer than a Limited or Big Horn? Chevy might be the worst... tell me where a LTZ slots in with a High Country, Midnight, Rally, Custom Sport, Black Out, or Texas Longhorns.

Oh! I like Ford's "Titanium" branding for their cars. I think it's a more modern way to say "Limited" or "I got the one with all the stuff on it" but perhaps more hip.

BMW M
Frankly, I don't think the M brand has ever been done that well. Yes, there are the M-cars (M3, M5) that are known for being "best of the model line" but BMW has consistently produced other trim levels using "M" as a moniker. The E30 had an M-Tech package that was appearance only. There was the M535i back in the E28 days. There is a "sport" package and an "M-sport" package, what's the difference?

Audi S
Same deal as BMW. They have the S-cars and then the S-Line as a trim level on the "lesser" Audis. I don't get it.

Ford ST vs SHO vs SVT
Technically, SVT doesn't exist anymore. But dial the clock back to like... 2013(?) and you could get a Focus ST, a Taurus SHO, and a SVT Raptor. It's horseshit that three "performance minded" vehicles that came from Ford's "performance division" do not share any sort of branding.

Dodge SRT and RAM
"Performance-y Dodge vehicles are SRTs!"

"Oh wait, now SRT is a separate brand and we only sell the Viper."

Oh, I'm talking about recognition. They could have called it "Hoodrich" and had the same effect. Point is, it's a trim level that's marketed as a separate model entirely, and it seems to resonate with consumers pretty well.

So ignoring malaise era shit..no one is bringing up "Super Sport" or "SS" which pretty much set the standard for performance during the muscle car era? I think it stands out more than GT in particular for a performance brand, because GT describes a style of car, not a performance trim

I always liked SS/Super Sport. It was the same deal as an M-car, everyone knew that a SS Chevrolet was "the performance version" of the model.
