You can TOTALLY have this done in time for the show. I have faith. Piece of cake.
Because sleep is for bitches.

Yeah, not gonna happen. My friend realized his flight to Miami left Thursday morning not Friday. I have no way to get the car there tomorrow, so next week sometime is the new target.

If we pretend hard enough that you can get it done in time, maybe it will happen!
Ah, yeah, sure, lemme know how that works out for you.
It sucks that I won't be able to get it done for the show, but it'll give me a little extra time to get some more of that pesky "little stuff" sorted out. Our new target date for the exhaust work is Tuesday, which means I have through the weekend to tackle this list:
Quote:1.) Torque Vanos banjo bolt
2.) Install Cam and Crank Position Sensors and Water Pump Pulley
3.) Connect sensors on head
4.)Put drain plugs back in and pour some preliminary oil all over the camshafts.
5.)Install Valve Cover and spark plugs
6.) Reconnect wiring harness and ECU
7.) Install Manifold, fuel injectors, spark plugs
8.) temporarily install headers
9.) Install new air intake parts
10.) Install cowl, hood and wipers
11.) Drop in radiator, hoses, tank
12.) connect power, test start, bleed cooling system
14.) Tow to shop, test fit and tack in V-band flanges, remove headers/midpipe and weld, then do the final install.
15.) Profit?
As well as pull the driver's seat and replace the clutch/brake arm bushings, potentially make myself an undertray if I can find plastic/aluminum that's inexpensive enough, determine why my new coolant level sensor has a different shaped plug on it, etc etc.

since you've already missed your deadline why not just come down and hang out for the day (or two) and work on that stuff next weekend?
Because I hate all of you. :-p
I would, but Lauren has to work all weekend so that sticks me with the dog. I spent about 9 hours in the car last weekend running all over the damn state, and I don't really feel like embarking on a solo weekend adventure with the dog. Even if I did she would be a pig at the show, jumping up on everyone, trying to steal food and licking small children within an inch of their lives. I need to start taking her to Katie's again on Saturday mornings to work on our crowd manners.
Also now that I'm not trying to have it done *by* the weekend, I don't have to work late nights for the rest of the week since I can put some time in Saturday and Sunday. Sorry fellas, this is the first show I've ever missed, I promise it won't become a habit. Someone should pour a little oil out into a parking spot or something.

My M3 and/or my Denali will take care of that, don't you worry  I guess I oughta replace some oil pan gaskets.

Truth.
Made more progress last night, here's the updated list.
1.) Reconnect wiring harness and ECU
2.) Finish bolting down manifold
3.) temporarily install headers
4.) Install new air intake parts
5.) Install cowl, hood and wipers
6.) Drop in radiator, hoses, tank
7.) connect power, test start, bleed cooling system
8.) Replace clutch/brake arm bushings
9.) Tow to shop, test fit and tack in V-band flanges, remove headers/midpipe and weld, then do the final install.

She's mostly back together. Tonight I need to modify the new intake to fit, put the headers on and fill 'er up with fluid.
Speaking of the intake, check out this chunky bastard.

Well, almost. 98%.
On Friday Jake and I scrambled to get his car running for the show, then went back to my place and he helped me put the hood back on and provided emotional support while I put coolant and oil in, wondering if it was all going to end up on my shoes.
Funny note about the hood, I had to move the hinges to install the new cowl so I figured it'd take me an hour of fiddling to get it aligned mostly right. I'll be damned if it didn't end up better than when I took it off. :dunno:
On Saturday I had the great pleasure of discovering that the long tube headers will not go back on the car if all of the header studs are in place. You can almost get the front one on but it hits the motor mount right when you try to slip it over the studs.
I could've pulled all the studs back out of the head but 1.) That would've sucked, 2.) All the hardware is old and worn out, 3.) We have to pull them again on Tuesday to weld the flanges on, so instead I went and bought this.
Just so I could do this.
Ugh.
I finished up the new intake on Sunday and did my first test start. The IAC hose had gotten pulled out so it ran like crap on the first start. Then after I reconnected it the throttle seemed a little delayed or jumpy, but only at first, so I'm guessing it was just learning the new chip. I did one last start and it kicked over right away and went to a smooth idle.
The car is all packed up and ready to go to the shop on Tuesday.
Things still to do:
1.)Weld flanges on
2.) Finish bleeding cooling system
3.) Replace clutch/brake pedal bushings
4.)I'm not crazy about the location of the new air filter. Might try a different tube and/or relocate the oil separator (the MAF is hitting it). Redesigning the heat shield so I can fit the alternator duct on wouldn't be a bad idea either.
5.) Give it a well deserved bath and drive.

Thanks! It was actually on sale for $60, and will make doing the oil pan gasket considerably easier, so it's a good thing to have. I'm sure it'll make it's way around MM too.

Daaaaamn dude, be cool. Now if something does happen it's your fault for sending out pessimistic vibes. You need to go get some 15W-40 sprinkled on your forehead or something to cleanse your spirit now.
