MM Spring Schedule (New Almost Finished Draft)
#21
I know this might not seem like a big deal, but I know last year (reading from the forums) we did a spring Kline's meet? Just a suggestion, I had a great time being a freshman at the fall one, and was definitely one of the bigger gatherings MM has had this year. If we can't work it in, or it is out of the question, no big deal

We can try and work one in this spring again when it gets warmer out. Can be during the week too so we should be able to have one.

Yeah but if it's just gonna be some 'show up and maybe drive a session with whoever' it simply isn't as big of a draw. I mean, I can show up to SPK and drive with whoever whenever I want. The karting event that we've been doing for over 10 years now was about getting MM people together to do an event.

I understand the concern about cost but the event was never about making money. The cost came in when we decided to subsidize the entry fee for students to make it easier for them to do it. Spending money so students can enjoy an event seems like a legitimate use of funds to me :dunno:

if you have 10-12 people they will give you your own private race group (arranged ahead of time or day-of if youre willing to wait a little longer)

if you are willing to spend more money/have more people and plan ahead you can do things like mini-grand prix with qualifying sessions, or multi group tournament style etc. they are flexible and if you have money they will be happy to do what makes you happy.
with a larger group and a longer event you can get the facility to yourself, prior to opening at noon on weekends. glance at the calendar on their website to give you an idea.
you can get the numbers on a 2 hour enduro but youre going to need a lot of people otherwise it may be more than geforce.

i know we have always done the enduros in the past but personally i think a sprint race tournament style would be a lot of fun to try too.

Ok so as long as we have a quorom they'll give us our own group? Ok that'd be much better. I'd still be a bit worried about how much time we'd have to wait between sessions. Don't know if there is anyway we can reserve at least one session 30-40 minutes after our first.

Yeah don't think we can do a 2 hour enduro, but maybe a sprint format would be more fun.

As long as we can get our own sessions and not have to wait a ridiculous amount of time between sessions. But if it's just gonna be people filtering in and out whenever that doesn't seem like it'd be nearly as much fun. The other thing is that typically when people don't prepay to reserve a slot, a lot of people don't show. If we don't rent the facility there'll be no impact to the club but it also means it'll be less fun for the people who do go.

yeah pretty much it would be everybody gets in line to get their tickets, you tell the nice scheduling ladies that you all want your own group, and she signs you up for the next open group. not really any way around waiting 45 min on a busy day to the next session afaik unless you do the full private track rental in the morning.
(and if you prepare for the wait ahead of time, bring camp chairs, benchrace, check out the main paddock, its part of the event)

might be able to schedule a time ahead of time, but kind of doubt it. this is, of course me talking, not spk so perhaps there are other options, things have changed etc.
and it looks like their website is an...'offseason project' and none of the links work right now....

yeah a fair point. track rental is definitely the best option. if that cant happen, i think a more informal group can still be worthwhile though
