Well, it's not to the point I'd like it to be, but can't have it sitting around all winter so spread the word. On forums for $4200 but howbout $3500 to MM?
stolen from http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=337102 so you can keep an eye on how bad they rip it there.
Here’s all the bad I know.
- Odometer is stopped at 145997, per the previous owner that happened about 2 years ago, (autocheck i got when purchased seems to reflect this) she was a college student and didn't drive it much outside of JMU to home in DC, we would guess it's coming up on 155-157k?
- The dash has cracks.
- The lcd screen for the OBC is not working.
- The radio is aftermarket and currently doesn't have power. (i haven't tried to fix that, I’d put a stock unit back in if i were going to keep it)
- The front valance is dented back a bit, it looks like the PO had bumped it into one of those parking space barricades, it's pushed in and the lower spoiler was missing when i got it. I haven't tried to pull/straighten it out yet. I did buy a new lower spoiler to go on.
- Rear bumper has a chip missing in the corner by the driver side wheel, see photos.
- Mirror housings need to be repainted
- The battery is pretty shot, should be replaced. (lasted me about a week of sitting in the garage after a charge)
The good
- The car was sold new in Philly, then went down to DC, so not really exposed to harsh salt.
- The car has a current VA inspection from July 2014. The passenger side control arm was replaced as part of the inspection.
- T-stat/water pump and radiator new within the last year. Car did get hot quickly when i bought it, didn't seem like coolant was flowing, so replaced the t-stat, few system flushes and bleeds and all seems well. (aka heater started working again also)
- Found/fixed various vacuum leaks.
- Oil was changed on 10/8/14.
- Interior is in very good condition, driver seat has two cracks in the bolsters, but not full rips.
- Tires are just some all seasons, but tons of tread. I'll get depth and mfg date later.
It's not perfect, but I think it's pretty solid starting place as a project or just to enjoy as is. I'm not real experienced in the e30 platform/common problems, so please let me know if you have any questions or want info/pics of a specific area.

You going to tell anyone the literal steal you got for this? Or should I tell everyone?

I have never figured out why people think they are entitled to know how much someone paid for something when they are trying to sell it. It's none of the buyer's business what the seller originally paid for it. If he is going to make 300% profit, good for him. That's good business on his end.

4200 for a car with accident damage, a missing fan shroud, original bushings and a ricer intake :/
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

With a 4-cylinder in a bmw without a lot of things working...
I will say this because it is MM and not really a public forum where he is likely to sell this:
E46 in good condition...for almost half the price and it took 20 seconds of searching:

If you can sell it for $4,200, I gotta give you props  But I think you are wayyy overpriced on this one.

Ryan's right, bought the car cheap, but since he brought it up, now he has to sit there while I blah on about Total Cost of Ownership. Know you're just messing around but I don't mind sharing how I work, here's my sheet for the car
now my (and Matthews) labor can be argued, but this is more for my own tracking as anytime I put towards the car is lost opportunity elsewhere. (And I whore myself out pretty cheap to myself)
Tried watching other sales over the summer, and decided to ask in the upper 80% of comp sales. probably won't be a quick sell, but hopefully won't be too long before someone that's looking for a good project base comes along.
oh, and those gifs were videos in picasa of it running, but apparently they turn to a gif when you hotlink them.
had a guy on BF offer an e34 530i 5spd for it today, which would be sweet, but I need less cars and more working heat pumps before the winter comes.

missing shroud = easier repair access? :dunno:

fully agree, i wouldn't even click on the CL ad for this car at $4k.
It still has a good ways to go, but there seems to be a small pocket of nuts that crawl over anything that's not totally trashed. (although most are in socal) but maybe i'll get lucky with the line in the water.
I'm not convinced I'm done with e30's...but I'm not ready to jump back in one just yet.
318is' grab decent money because of the whole "lightweight/poor man's M3/better balance bro" reputation - which when driven back to back with a 6-cyl car, is a valid argument. Good luck with the sale!

If DJ says something is overpriced that means you've probably got it pretty close to market value. If DJ can't think of a way to buy it and make money on it, then it's overpriced as far as he's concerned. :-p
I don't think people will be fighting over it given it's history and condition, but I do think you'll get someone to pay you pretty close to your asking price without a whole lot of trouble. Back when I was first getting into BMWs, super clean E30s were no more than $4000 and clean E36 non-Ms were $6-7500.
These days E30s are becoming classics with clean 325is or well done S50 swaps going for $10k or better, and E36s have pretty much bottomed out, and E46s are the new E36, currently in freefall with cheap, non-sport people-mover versions going for next to nothing like the one DJ posted, and nice sport package 330i going for $7k or better.

yeah, on r3v yesterday, BF today, and just because they crack me up, i might throw it on vadriven. someone is bound to have a slammed civic and jar of moonshine to trade me.

No, like honestly, this thing is way overpriced. Odometer doesnt work, accident damage, ricer mods, paint in shitty condition and the 4-cylinder version while has "cool bro" status doesnt garner any more $$ than a 325i.
MINTTTTTYYYY Euro version of that car $5,000 asking price.

"Typical" 318i in better condition without accident damage, working odometer (trust me it only has XXX milaege), $2,000

Touche, although I would argue that the rust damage on that 2nd one is what's bringing the price down, but I didn't realize you could get such a clean 318i for $5k either.
