Leaky radiator out, new radiator in! Depending on what happens when Sam and I take a look at how I strapped this thing up later this week, I'm now more likely to take her for da cruise 8)

No pics unfortunately, I was racing the sun..and lost, my toes were frozen, i was frustrated as fuck and I just wanted to be drunk. So as soon as the heat started working again I took her out for a beating, she maintained her cool and the radiator nor my fan fell off, so yay!

Yeah definitely, the big plus here is that it was small. I really liked that. Unfortunately I don't see myself purchasing it til late March, but thats okay, we're already half way through February! At least I know what I want now

I wouldn't worry about that. The sound system in my truck probably costs more than your car and I know it costs more than the car I'm daily driving And although my shitty radio's screen turns on and off with the wrong glance in the civic and one of the rear speakers is unplugged because when plugged in it disintegrates itself and shoots speaker fragments all over the car, it still makes enough sound that resembles music for me to not care

No, Taylor's got it right in my case. I know I won't be able to go back, or at the least, a transition to lower quality would be mad painful for me. This is also sometimes why i refuse to listen to high quality speakers cause I'm gonna want that eargasm over and over and over again. I mean..its not like i'm going to one day decide down downgrade my sound system anyways..???

It'll only get better... you'll graduate and get a good job and either be able to afford a newer car with non-crumbly speakers, or be able to install a kickass system in whatever you're driving.

Well I still have a fucking leak coming some fucking crook and nanny in the front of this abysmal, godforsaken piece of shit. Whatever the hell is leaking is running onto the belts. It's pissing itself rather steadily too. It ain't the radiator, I can tell ya that much. Updates after further investigation to come in the very near future. :evil:

Alrighty, my worries were not confirmed, thank god. I was really hoping it wasn't the water pump, which it was not. It was the upper hose where its connected to the thermostat. The clamp was all kinds of messed up so although it felt tight, it really wasn't. Readjusted the clamp, sprayed some lubricant and ta-da! All fixed, phew.

Lol. Welcome to the emotional roller coaster of owning an E36. Intermittent coolant issues have nearly been the death of me on a few different occasions.

It's probably worth snugging up every clamp, they have a tendency to loosen themselves up a bit after a few heat cycles.

Those worm clamps suck. I dealt with a coolant leak on the Miata for a few weeks once I changed the radiator. Swore up and down I had some catastrophic something going on. Clamp was loose even though it felt tight.

Maybe I'll take out the other fog lamp and just get a cover for the gap, as well...or just peruse craiglist until someone parts out their e36...yeeaaahh I think I'll do that :lol:

Damn I wish I could even at least give my car a simple clay bar, compound, polish and wax along with a thorough interior cleaning before the show. But with my roof peeling its a waste of time and it won't even look like a nice stock pretty e36 parked up beside all other beauties to be there if I did all that. Oh well.

Did you lose the whole assembly or just the lens? If you just lost the lens you can do what I did:

Go home and run the CEL reader again to make sure no new codes.
Add new codes to list and fix it.

I should be able to have all that done by the end of summer, right? Some of these won't even cost more than $30

Bummer about the fog. Yeah if you plan to wrap the car you might as well pick up the delete panels and just wrap them when you get there.

Ima go ahead and reprioritize that list for you, and then dump a shitton of un-asked-for advice on you:

VCG (How old are the spark plugs? Good time to change them if they are old. Also make sure you get the little rubber washers that go on the valve cover bolts)
Power steering hose (You can do this by buying generic hose and new clamps and replacing the soft lines instead of buying a whole new contraption from BMW for way too much money. There are some DIYs out there that tell you what hose to buy)
Brakes (Depending on how bad they are this should be pretty far up the list, good news is you can use cheap as all Autozone/Napa rotors and pick up a decent set of pads for not too much money.)
Transmission fluid (Good time to do diff fluid as well, also check the condition of the flex disc on the back of your trans, if its badly cracked it should be replaced)
Go home and run the CEL reader again to make sure no new codes.
Add new codes to list and fix it
Window Seals (me too)
Fix power windows and power locks
Fix sunroof
Fix the door (what's wrong with the windows/doors/roof?)
New Speakers
Vinyl Wrap (If you go this route make sure you sand that roof completely smooth or else you'll still see where the clear was peeling and where it wasn't. Also don't totally cheap out on the vinyl, you want something with a good UV rating so it holds it's color over the next few years. I'm sure the Polenator knows way more about this than I do)
Respray wheels (If you attempt to spray bomb them make sure you take the time to completely strip them down or else the end product won't last.
All weather floor mats

Sounds like a fun summer! Just make sure you work through the mechanical stuff before the cosmetic. It'll be way more fun to drive an ugly car that runs like a top next year than a car with a pretty wrap job but has broken suspension and/or catastrophic oil leaks.

If I could go back in time I'd smack myself for buying a motorcycle to dick around with instead of doing more preventative maintenance on the car I had.

Yeeeessss, thank you. You filled in all the stuff I would've remembered about ON the day of work time lol. Happens everytime smh

So the door: the handles are hard to pull and they *break* open, instead of opening smoothly and softly. The door also sounds very rattle-y and takes more effort to shut unlike other e36 doors.

The windows: You already know about this and you told me whats wrong but I don't really remember. I push the up button and the window goes up, then it stops and backs off a little. And you basically do that until it makes it way up. You said something got restrictive so the window thinks its about to chop off a baby's head and stops.

Lock: The button just doesn't work. I'm also considering a keyless entry system but i bet those are expensive.

Sunroof: WEeell either the motor or the switch is dead, and then i opened it manually and theeenn i rounded out the hole, theen we tore out the motor and spun the gear to get it to shut and I never put anything back. The gears are in my cupholder and the motor is on the passenger floor

Wrap: I was planning to buy wrap from Jon and coerce him into applying it with me.

I'll definitely holla if i need some halp! I'm gonna beg Sam for access to the garage over summer, if not, then try and snag some tools.
