Changed the oil today. Pretty easy on this thing. If it was stock height no jack would be needed.
Do you guys replace the crush washer on the drain plug every time? It looked perfect so I just reused it, because I didn't have a replacement.
Also am I the only one that is super nervous after an oil change? I've done em hundreds of times, but everytime I'm like.....oh shit is the drain plug tight? Did I tighten the filter enough? Zomg oil leaks errywhere

I have to use the k&n filter on the truck for the nut on the end otherwise it takes forever to get off and they always leak so I stopped caring now. I always try to do new crush washers.

no
after the change i have this ritual where i check the oil again, retighten the oil filter, check the drain plug AGAIN, then start the car and then look underneath to make sure nothing's pouring oil out. only then does the undertray finally go back on. i have problems.

What Scott said. I check everything a bunch of times. Last time I even put newspaper on the floor to make sure it didn't leak over night. Paranoid.

Update....
Love this car. Been nothing but awesome. Rides well, holds a car seat, its fun to drive, and the wife likes it.
Time for brakes.
PO did slotted fronts and who knows what kind of pads. Im not a fan, and the rears are giving me alot I vibration when braking from highway speeds. So im gonna change em all up.
Grab some cheapo blanks from rock auto.
Just need to decide on a nice, low dust street pad. Nothing crazy, I just want the car to stop when I push the middle pedal.
Suggestions?

+1. I had a set on the front of the 325i and they were great. Quiet, consistent ability, and didn't seem to dust too much (although OEM BMW pads dust a TON so anything is better...). Held up okay for a few spirited laps of VIR, too.

I should just message eric right?
HPS's have been fine for me, although if they were pricier I'd be dissapointed. fairly low dust, good cold bite, they haven't left deposits on the rotors despite hitting them pretty hard. speaking of which they're pretty kind to the rotors, i'm still on my originals on all corners at 110k miles.
i had Ferodo DS2500's on my A4 and they were awesome but were more expensive and dusted a good bit.

yup, or go through ogracing and try to get your NASA "worker" discount. Hawk HPS arent bad either, but the PFCs are better.

Lulz....
Rock Auto - all 4 rotors (Centric), $96 shipped.
Weird thing is they have the Economy rotors listed, and a DD rotor marked as "Premium" listed. Both have the same part number. Centric only has one part number as well. But the Premium rotor is double the cost, yea,
Checking on the PFC pads, waiting to hear back from OG. I have a feeling I can get all 4 corners done for like $200, WIN.
EDIT:
LAME, only make the front pads for the Forester/WRX. F/R are available on the STI. Maybe I should just upgrade to STI brembos so I can get these pads?
Any other recommendations? the HAWKs are just stupid overpriced. Someone recommended the AKEBONO ceramics. Or the HAWK Ceramics. Thoughts???
