the door isnt perfectly sqaure becasue they had to trim the door to fit the floor in the old house it came out of. so getting a piece of glass to fit perfectly is going to be tough.
Just go get some glass cut at the hardware store. I'll bet Solenbergers in Winchester will cut you a piece for really cheap. That store has all kinds of that kind of stuff. Especially for cutting to match something that's not straight.

Solenbergers also has the the best nut and bolt selection I have seen, all available by individual piece.

Worked on the house a little more this weekend. If the rain would have stayed at bay we would have gotten a lot more done.
Here is the deck (after replacing 4 feet of timber but still ugly as crap). The previous owners PAINTED the deck BLUE to match the interior carpet it wasnt a deck sealer, it wasnt a stain, it was "maybe" exterior paint.
After borrowing a pressure washer from Rex and Julie... it looks like this:
Its still not 100% and there were stops of the paint we just couldnt wash off. Also the deck is showing some of its age... SO before we redo the whole thing we decided to try the Rustoleum Restore (http://rustoleumrestore.com/). Hopefully it busy us 5-10 years on the deck while we figure out what we want to do with the deck/outside kitchen/garden area. The deck is the only area getting over 6 hours of sun per day spring through fall.
The next issue is the crawl space access. You can see the epic paint job from the previous owners. It was starting to rust a little and i need to work on the latching system a little to make it work "better"
I'm not 100% on the green. i like it now... but i dont know about in the winter time. I might try to find a brown. but for now this rustoleum paint job will do the trick.

I like the green myself. Ernie's handicap ramp on the back of our house is almost the same color.

HRMMMMMMM, that rustoleum stuff is exactly what I need for our lil deck. I need to replace 2-3 boards and then roll this stuff on instead of staining.
Thanks for the link.
Great progress! My deck was previously stained a non-HOA approved color (and I dont really like the color either). You think a pressure washer would take off the stain?

You can paint over the stain, but will probably wanna pressure wash it first to clean any sap/mildew/etc off.
May take a couple extra coats though to cover the existing deck stain.

the inside of the door and the latch set up is all rusty and old. I need to mess with it and get it to hold tight. without the log if the wind blows it will make a hellish noise lol.
so the rustoleum stuff says dont use it on new wood for 6 months the internet guys say if you power washed the new wood too and its been soaked by rain a couple of time and dried out... it should be good to go.

it depends on what they used. if its a true stain you wont get it off. if its a traditional sealer you will get most of it off. but usually its on there for a while. how old is the deck?
our desk is 8 years old and showing some age. it looked much better AFTER the power wash, but i was still having to replace a board and repair some other planks. It should buy us another 5 years (at least) on the design of the new deck.
this stuff WILL cover other things up but they say you need to power wash AND sand anything that is too "shiny"
