Time to thin the heard, I have 2 competitive cars and right now don't have the time or finances (isn't the curves life throw great sometimes.....) for the feeding and caring of both so I am letting chance decide which direction I am going, both cars are for sale and will continue to race which ever one doesn't sell.
1992 SM/SSM Miata, currently setup in SSM trim
Former NASA SSM VIR lap record holder (by me)
SCCA/NASA log books with current 2013 NASA annual inspection
New crate Mazda motor spring 2011 (6 events since, dyno'd at the SSM class limit in March of this year)
Mazdacomp Exhaust
Spec Miata suspension
Sparco ADV halo seat
Cage built by our own Jeff Underwood
In SSM trim the car has several class wins (including the last outing) and only finished outside of the top 5 twice (6th once and 13th out of a 54 SSM field). Finished 4th in NASA SSM points last year even with running a partial schedule. I have never had a DNF with the car and no major contact. There is a dent in the drivers quarter panel and the LF fender is a little wrinkled. It was like that when i got the car and it wasn't worth fixing in my opinion but I have a replacement fender. Can also be ran in the DSP autocross class
Interesting note. This car is now eligable to race in any Vintage race due to it's win at the VIR Gold Cup races.
$8,000
Scott, how much to rent for July VIR?
I am seriously interested in Spec Miata, and although its not a "spec miata" per se, I want to see how well/bad these things are on track. Like to free up some funds for my MBA by selling GTS2, but I dont want to get out of racing.

The buy-in of a racecar is the cheap part, its the entry fees/towing/travel/tires/crashes/blown motors/etc ends up being more $$ in the long run. You've already got the M3, truck, trailer and piles of spares, so if you're going to keep racing.... just keep on, keepin' on?

Maybe he just wants something different? The only time he has any competition is when ginger stig shows up, but of course that might not change in sm. I feel like you won't like teh slow though Dj

It can run Spec Miata as it sits ( i would of finished 3rd in it in Spec Miata in March....). But, to be truly competitive, it really needs an intake, exhaust, and FC shock top hats.

Yup almost T-boned him and I remember there being crazy late braking/brake fade when we were out on track (probably due to the cheap pads you had from Advance Auto).

haha, "lets just hit the brakes going into turn 1 here." *SCREEEEEEEEE* "hmm, I'll just go ahead and go reaaaaaally wide through 1 so this Miata doesn't come into my passenger door"
