So I want to buy these wheels but the guy is in Minnesota. He has sold plenty of stuff on the forum so Im not worried about him being shady, but I want to make sure I cover all my bases.
Hes asking $900 + shipping, and thats a lot of money. Has anyone ever sent a large amount of money via paypal to an individual before? Did you transfer the money into your paypal account first, then send it? Or did you have an account or card attached to your paypal and have it just deducted out of the account?
I know, dont gift it. I plan on paying the paypal fees associated with the transaction to cover my butt, but is there anything else I should do or know before I send a stranger my left kidney??

Just be wise. I got screwed on a K20a2 head that I paid a good chunk of change for. Paypal ended up giving it back to me after 2 weeks. I also contacted USAA and they said they had my back too. Definitely do not gift it. Also for claims etc I would take pictures of the box as soon as it gets there. USPS screwed me out of my stoptechs that I shipped and I ended up losing a grand on that.

Having a credit card attached to online transactions if you can isn't a bad thing. Because if you get screwed you can just call them and credit card companies don't mess around. They will refund your money and aggressively go after the perp.

I rock a cc attached to my Paypal and do all of my car part purchases that way if they are online. Never had an issue. I think the most I've done at once was $1300 for my suspension.
Alright this is all comforting. He has great feedback on the forum and runs a business out of his home too so those are good signs. Hopefully Ill have new wheels and tires within the next 10 days.

Check feedback, and check history. I always look at their posts. You have no idea how many "fs" ads where the item is clean and works and the guy has posted "this doesn't work" in a previous thread.

yep, CC and my Bank account ties to Paypal. Larger purchases from unknown buyers I use my CC. Smaller purchases I typically have draw from my bank account.
