Hey guys I'm sure some (if not most) of you guys have heard of the new Dominion Raceway that they are trying to build in Spotsylvania. That's my hometown and they really need some support. Any little bit helps out. Just check out their facebook page:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.facebook.com/DominionRaceway?fref=ts">http://www.facebook.com/DominionRaceway?fref=ts</a><!-- m -->
You can find any info you want on their and there is also a picture of the proposed plan. I was just posting this up since some people at the last meeting did not know about it and wanted this posted on the forum.

Awesome! That's an hour from Fairfax, its even closer to NOVA than Summit Point.
Now: 07 Porsche Cayman S | 18 VW Tiguan
Then: 18 VW GTI Autobahn | 95 BMW M3 | 15 VW GTI SE | 12 Kia Optima SX | 2009 VW GTI | 00 BMW 540i Sport | 90 Mazda Miata | 94 Yamaha FZR600R | 1993 Suzuki GS500E | 2003 BMW 325i | 95 Saab 900S
Exactly! It's about 20 minutes away from me and Chris Lu's house. So if we ever went down, we would have plenty of places to stay. They just got the paperwork filed so I have my fingers crossed.

Kaan Wrote:and i stay as far away from I95 as possible in the summer time (track season) Lolwut? Summer is the best time to travel 95 if you are commuting during rush hour. No school plus people on vacation equals not as crowded. (Drove from md to DC everyday for work last summer)

DC and south on I-95= VA Beach traffic.... not all I-95 is the same. I lived in woodbridge for 3 years... i will NEVER EVER do that again.

Just FYI, this track actually seems to have potential. The guy who owned/sold Old Dominion Drag strip has the funding to make this happen. Seems the biggest battle is getting it to pass. They have already submitted the ppwk to have the property rezoned. So that is the first big hurdle. Their plan is to open for the 2014 season. Seems to have pretty good reception so far.

This.
My ex lived in Richmond and the drive from Winchester to Richmond was terrible in the summer.

Don't think so. This guy is as Justin says, just trying to keep Dominion Speedway in Manassas, alive by moving it. They are taking the land from him in Manassas, and he's trying to move to this new place in Spotsy. It'll have the dragstrip, the paved circle track, and a road race track. This is actually getting a good bit of traction, with some important players weighing in.

Yeah the layout is really nice. As for 95 traffic, even during the summer it never gets "terrible" around my exits. But if you are coming from other places you may hit some slow spots. There are also backroads you can take to get there.

See I don't think 95 south of Fredvegas is so bad. It could be that if I think traffic is bad, I just hop off at the airport and go through Fredvegas, I never thought I'd be familiar, but since Rex's brother lives there, we are there quite a bit, so I just cut through and hop on the interstate at Rt. 3 by Central Park. I usually figure its lightened by there. Anyway, Its north of Quantico and then right at Fredericksburg is bad. You don't want to come down 95, come down 29 to opal, hit 17, take that into Fredericksburg, hit Rt. 1 and take that. After sitting in traffic I can tell you that you only add maybe 5 minutes onto you time. Anyway, if its gonna be in spotsy, its an easy commute from this side of the mountain too. 33-> through the shortcut through Standardsville to Madison-> to 29, to culpeper onto Rt 3. and all the way in to Spotsy. 2 hours. start to finish if you know where you are going.

Even less than that, it's more like an hour and a half or an hour fifteen if you speed through the mountain. This place is in Thornburg which is a few exits down from route 3 off 95. It's still considered Spotsylvania county though.

95 is the most miserable road on the face of this planet.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
95 sucks for traffic, but man...85 between Richmond and NC is the closest i've ever come to feeling like the pavement was carpet bombed, and i lived in PA for 17 years. i'm so lucky i get to drive them both every time i want to see family in B'more!
