A lot of 2012 Schedules are up, and it's almost time to put my 2012 evil schemes in motion. For me the main things I wanna do in 2012 are:
*Buy 600 cc race bike -> do some racing
*Do Level 4 of the California SBK School, get my slide on
*Do the Ariel Atom Experience at VIR
*Upgrade the WRX's brakes, do some car track days, possibly instruct
*Go to the Indianapolis GP, possibly do a flyaway round in Europe
*Do more karting
How about you guys?

did you ever prep your own car?
some of the year you prep, say January and February... the rest of the year you drive and fix shit. mini motards are for the "winter" 2012.

There should be 2 chances this season, details are in the works.
My plans: AutoX with NASA-MA for points this season. Hopefully try and get the hatchpile on track atleast once and do my first DE.
2012 Plans:
Drive. I really wont have the money this year for any prep, and it looks like some people in GTS2 are about to drop a lot of money into their cars for roll center corrections, active aero etc. So I will be doing GTS2 locally and may or may not be competitive. Plan is to run gts2 locally, and go for the National Championship in PTC ( a wheel to wheel class) for 2012. Then who knows what I will do. I plan to run all the NASA-MA events, a NASA-NE event here and there, and then the National Championship.
Try to figure out a co-drive for this year with SCCA Autocross. Unfortunately everyone either A) Isnt prepped that well and/or doesnt show up to that many autocrosses or B) Doesnt like getting beat in their own cars. So the likelihood of missing another SCCA Championship is in the pipeline.

Before Februaryish
ÔÇó┬áGet seats/harnesses installed
ÔÇó┬áRepaint wheels, new tires
After Februaryish
ÔÇó┬áAttend every NASA-MA event - will continue announcing w/DJ, also learning pace with Aaron Crowder
ÔÇó┬áDrive a lot and progress through HPDE2 and into group 3
ÔÇó┬áAutocross when I can
ÔÇó┬áWould like to do a rallycross, but probably not with either of my cars

do 1 or 2 track weekends. (oh how things have changed)
do some summit point karting
new track car / future race car?
Not explicitly motorsport plans, but:
-Get rid of the Miata
-Fix up (and indulge a little on) the M3
-Save for next car (by "save" I mean hunt for sub-1k cars with flip potential and do that a couple times)
-Late summer buy a nicer daily driver, or a cheaper daily driver and a cheaper track car
-either do something creative with said DD, or get my ass out on the track, depending on what i do in the previous step.
I've discovered I don't want to track a car I care about, and I don't want to build a car I don't care about. So I'd rather get a car I can bring my helmet and start driving, or spend time modding/building a DD I'm not going to turn into a ball of metal.

might be getting a wheel for christmas, that's about it. I won't spend money on a "rig" until it's affordable to get one of these

or it's just plugged into the back of my head. :dunno: Screens and seats do little to improve the experience IMHO, it's the motion that's missing.
Ok, I didn't mean to make it sound like I will do nothing, I just don't have any plans. Which means I'll PROBABLY do nothing. I suppose I might instruct a couple events if I can borrow your car.
*edit* well dang, I'd never really looked them up, there some basic systems that are kind of getting "affordable"
