"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

^^^^Agreed, from what i remember that guy was supposedly a total TOOL though and was drunk when he went "Kayaking".
I on the other hand was playing flag football in the middle of the quad , was sick for a week.
he was actually a really nice guy despite his outward appearance (muscular, rugby, liked to drink). just an acquaintance, though.

I jammed my freezer with water bottles to act as ice and had a cooler full of ice, in case we lost power for extended periods of time. It's because of that we never even had a flicker. The western side of these storms are pretty tame and Loudoun County was evidence of that.
Most of Melissa's relatives live close to that river in the latter shot and had to evacuate. One of the roads that washed away was really the only way in and out of town, so a lot of people are cut off. There has been no word from anyone as to their safety or how many houses have been taken. :?

Summer sucks 'cause no one has AC.
Spring and fall are nice. I'm partial to winter too, but she hates it.

We were in Winchester all weekend and it was pretty much just a little rain and a lot of wind.
My mom (Town Administrator for Middleburg) was on calls with FEMA, NOAA, etc. and she said that we weren't going to be hit hardly at all in NoVA. The news always seems to blow things out of proportion.

I think the problem is really because a single metro reporting era covered a wide swath of the storm and the results were very different depending on what side you got. Since the eye passed to the east of us, there wasn't much damage to be had. There are people east of DC that hit pretty hard.

That's terrible. I hope you guys hear from the family soon.
We had the boys sleep in our room farther away from the line of tall oaks next to the house. Hurricane Ivan brought a tornado to our neighborhood several years ago so it was a restless night listening to the wind waiting for a tree to crash in on the house. Lost power for about 45 minutes and that was it.
