Tyler- just puttin my advice on working on the chrome on your exhaust.....if the chrome is pitted through its going to be hard to get 100% perfection however you might wanna try some 0000 steel wool with either some Megs all metal polish or w/e else you may have. Give it a good soak with some degreaser (pref. citrus) while the exhaust is cold....gently work the steel wool on the rough spots and then work the metal polish in with a terry towel.
Also: Eagle one Nevr Dull P21s Metal Polishing soap ^^^^ those are excellent as well, and YES it is safe to use 0000 steel wool on most metals....i've seen some other detailers use them on HRE polished lips with no problems. M3 looking good man!

It's not too badly pitted, the only part I'm having a problem in keeping consistently clean is the rim, there's some rust spots there that won't come off. I'll try the steel wool though. BTW, if anyone has suggestions on ways to get rid of clear coat scarring or wants to show me some tips/tricks on detailing it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm having a tough time with some spots on the hood that were left from the previous owner. ALSO, if i don't sell the car this summer, I'm keeping it indefinitely and will hopefully be in the market for some new rims, headlights, and all that jazz. I'm saving up right now for the cooling system stuff, and I have some suspension things to do too, but towards the end of the summer I plan to be laying down some cash for cosmetic things. Rim wise, I was thinking about getting some black OZ's. People seem to like them, but any suggestions for good black rims at stock (17x8 and 17x8.5)? http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelClos...sort=Brand

Meh. Those OZ's do nothing for me. Save cash and buy some wheels from Bimmerforums or Craigslist. I got my BBS's that way and saved about $600 versus their actual value. Get something like these:

True. I'll admit up front that you won't find much love for black wheels from me. Gunmetal, sure. Black, eh. Powder coating is always a viable option though!

I like those OZ's over the Bremmers. If you get something like the Bremmer/BBS style, it needs more of a lip IMO.

i feel like the spokes are too busy, i dunno I like the beefiness of the fat 5/6 spoke wheels. But its your car, the OZs are by no means ugly, just not my style.
06-13-2011, 12:26 PM
that is quite the lip.... not sure if i like that or not haha
BTW, i'm thinking about switching to a square set up. Any difference in handling or is it just a looks thing? It'd help cuz then I can rotate tires and prolong life a little bit

245 or 255s all the way around, square. Helps both performance and longevity.
