The market is BEGGING....

Nah, cuz all the trendy kids and sorority girls who were buying tC's by the boatload (or any other Scion for that matter), will buy this. It'll sell like hot cakes whether us "enthusiasts" like it or not.

5 dollars says that when and if this thing ever hits market, it'll get outsold by the tC.

+1. This thing won't sell. Not even a question. What's the market?

this is truth Sad

Ironically, The old man in me would probably rather have something a little bigger and with an automatic now, for a DD anyway. But maybe Ill just sell my garage ornament and get one of these as the fun car.

you guys are wrong about the market though. if toyota gets the pricing right, a fun, good looking sports coupe with a backseat for the mid 20s crowd would sell very well. styling and price will be the most important factors.

but only one way to find out. wagging your dicks on the internet about how it wont sell doesnt make you nostradamus.

its even .2" shorter than a z4 coupe (and at least 400 lbs lighter than the base model)

that means the back seats are going to be a package shelf. which unfortunately are going to hurt its general appeal

YAFT86C (yet another ft86 concept)

Scion's version. hopefully closer to production version? (minus silly wheels etc). and thankfully without that nasty LED-rice on the bumper

Hmm, that latest version is looking damn sensual, and this is coming from someone who often doesn't jibe with the "yyAAR look at me I'm so hyperaggressive!!1!!!1" styling language. They've pulled it off here though.

Now if only they'd reverse course and give this car to the Toyota brand, give them a hint of their balls back and leave Scion for the poor hipster crowd...

I read Geralds post with Samuel L Jacksons voice.

and yeah, Im going to be shopping for minivans (or buicks) by the time this thing finally comes out.
unfortunately the scion is still way too concept-ey to think its close to production version.

latest rumor is summer 2012 in japan, fall (or so) 2012 for US.
Sad
I really need a new DD, so do I get a cheap used econocar as a stopgap wile waiting for this, or give up and buy a new veloster,cr-z, focus or one of the many other new cars that has caught my eye?
Im getting old and I kind of want a automatic anyway.....

so, we all know that this still probably won't hit dealers for another 14 years but i think these are fairly concrete numbers. honestly it looks awesome. if 2700 lbs. is how it has to be to get a modern car to market in this 45-airbags-and-power-everything market, then so be it, i'll take it. might have to seriously consider this as a next car provided they price it appropriately in respect to its trim and performance.

no turbo model, which i'm fine with. its supposed to hearken back to the AE86 driving experience anyway.

Subaru has already promised a "higher performance" model with a "little less than 300 horsepower".

2667 lbs is fucking awesome. It's about time someone made a lightweight RWD coupe. Assuming this thing doesn't cost too much, I think it's going to be a hit. I'm not really in the market for a new car but I'll definitely give this thing a look.

Just imagine how fast that thing is gonna be with the STi engine in it.

Supposedly it shares engine mounting with all the other subuarus, so you could swap in an STi motor - giggity.

If its as advertised - 200+ hp, 2500 lbs, $25k, I'm buying.
