kcook Wrote:how do you deal with a CA agency. what happens when someone hits you out here and they have to send an estimator or rep to see your car?

does anyone else think i should put liability on a 98-99 2.5 RS?

An agency is just a broker. They shop around nationwide companies for you. It's just an easy way to save time when you're trying to get a quote... they don't put a markup on your premium because you're going through them as far as I know. The company I worked for just paid brokers directly for any business they brought them.

The coverage I got through DeLisa was through Travelers not through her agency.

Edit: After you get coverage, your broker is pretty much hands off. You call your insurance company directly.

sticking to the original topic, the following is my list of suggested cheap, fun & efficient DDs:
240sx
90-93 Sentra/ NX
Accord/Civic/Prelude
98-03 Escort ZX2 <- no joke, Linds has one that gets 40mpg + a ton of torque and I would love to thrash it on track/autoX

Not sure how much $ you're looking to spend, but you should be able to get any of these for ~$2k or less.

LOL , my bro had one of those back in the day!

thing is i love driving my wrx on the street. i like the "track car" feeling on the street if yall know what i mean. it would get annoying at times because of the stiffness which is why i wanted to get a DD in the first place, then this happened. im looking for a potential track car that i can DD. id DD a sentra se-r and i could track that too. the wrx is mad expensive to track.

-miata (last option)
-240sx (ka24 or sr20)
-civic hatch (swap it)
-integra

i need it to last atleast 50k miles with no hiccups

SE-Rs are crazy cheap nowadays, but Honduhs still pull bigger prices b/c "everybody knows they'll last forever". There are good deals to be had on both meotters and 240s, but they might need some attnention to last 50k. All four that you've listed will be good dual-duty cars, just depends on your price range and time frame.

50,000 hiccup-free miles on a used car that might see track duty?

I want one too!

And also, I want it to run on sunshine and happy thoughts.

if they remain in your possession Tongue

with the thefts and vandalism of hondas i've experienced in NoVA, i'm stained with older hondas - i'd recommend an SE-R

Take out the spare tire - instant HP increase and double the trunk space!

You can pick up a 1.6L NA (90-93) for pretty cheap right now. Nobody wants convertibles in the winter Big Grin

EDIT: This guy is on miata.net and local to Fairfax. Seems legit and I chatted with him a bit. He's flexible on price. If you don't like the BBS rims you can resell them for big money to the right Miata nutcase. Check it here.

what about the early 2000s Se-R, I'm pretty sure those are relatively inexpensive

thats not a terrible deal on that miata (pending mileage). the hardtop is worth $1k alone (required for a track car) and you could get some good money for the bbs wheels.
Id say if you can talk him down to $3500 it would be a very good deal

It's manual trans. No idea on miles. The 1.8 happened in 94+ models. Here's a link to a site outlining differences between model years.
