My uncle and I are going to prime and time then engine tomorrow and bolt engine to transmission. I'll post pics as proof of actual progress. I hope to have the drivetrain assembly on a pallet on the garage floor tomorrow eventing waiting to find its way under the hood. Then I have to rewire and plumb the sonofabitch so I can breath life to it.

Wow. What a flaming pile of bullshit this turned out to be. The only thing I really got done was my cam gear is on.

The short version of the story:

I was trying to prime my oil pump so I could finally set the timing, bolt on my valve cover, and so on. Turning the oil pump with a drill....and turning....and turning... for quite awhile. Then I took off the oil filter and filled it. More turning...nothing. So I screw the oil filter off again and right as the last thread comes off...

PPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

OIL ON YA FACE! Oil vapor went everywhere. There was probably 100psi of pressure inside that filter. Oil all over me, the engine, the stall...I mean everywhere. So yeah, $5 "oil pressure release valve" on order, be here Monday. Time to have a drink.

No pics. Wish I had a camera. The cam gear looks baller though, might snap a pic of that tomorrow. I was pissed! I was really hoping to get something going on this today. I'm really making a push to get going on this project though so there should be frequent posting and the pics should start rolling in as it starts building steam again. The sad thing is I'm not sure if I'm even going to keep the car. I'm thinking I might get it done, drive it to say I did, then sell it and get a pickup or a omni that already has the shit done.

WE HAVE OIL OUT THE TOP! That valve was the only thing screwing up my oiling. Now I got her flowing. Got the new valve cover on and gonna mess with getting it timed up and all put back together today. Might even get it off the engine stand for the first time in like 2 years!!!!
