i've been an audi freak for a while and even i'd push you to a bmw wagon. WRX wagon would be the best choice though from the point of cost/reliability.

4 dr 1500 Silverado. I actually have a 3 door 2001, wish I would have found a 4dr crew cab. I think the 2000 MY brought the newer bosy style, LS motor and updated interior. You could go late model with your budget.

Mine has 192,000 on it. 4x8 sheets of plywood/drywall fit perfectly between the wheel wells. The bed makes a great saw horse, painting surface and trash can for things that need to go the dump that you don't want to put inside the cabin. Especially if you won't be able to get there for a few days...

It has room for the kids (passengers), leather and power everything. It tows the Vette on a full deck trailer with no problem.

I avg 16 mpg in an 8-10 mile commute, not great but not bad for a V8 full size p/u with 285hp. The above blue car is listed as 20-27mpg, your short commute will likely see the lower end of that. The difference will be about $30-40/month. BTW, why the hell does it seem like that car gets such piss poor mileage for a little 4 banger? It's hardly any better than the adjusted #'s for a 15 year old V8.

I had the minivan when we started reconstruction on the house and it worked well, I wish they made one that could tow a car, but I was always worried about beating up the inside trim, staining the carpet etc.

So that's it, my experience with a full size p/u.

Go drive some of the up-model American midsize SUVs / pickups. Just don't buy a pickup with a short bed because it will suck at everything in life. My father loves his 03' Mercury Mountaineer - no real issues to speak of, tows his boat with ease and he is able to carry tons of boxes between his store & house. 17.5mpg w/ the 4.0 V6 according to his avg. fuel economy gauge. I actually like driving the thing as well - it's much more car-like than my old roommates Jeep Grand Cherokee. Interior is pretty nice too (Auto / Rear AC, BAWLIN stereo w/ 6-disc in-dash, heated leather, etc...)

There's probably a reason for that. Take a step back and realize that we probably know what we're talking about and make suggestions for a reason. If you want a fancy truck/SUV, fine... but based on your requirements, you don't need to spend the extra money on one.

Dude id have to agree with them. I Told you, just borrow your dad's truck for shit like that and get a nice sedan if you need something (yes you do so you can get that gsx on track!).

Of course is what people would want for themselves, that's what opinions are... what they would do if they were in that situation. It's not that we think he can't make decisions... it's that we think he can make a misinformed one based on experience we have and he doesn't. One day you will be a big boy and realize that's how the grown ups think.

At lost of posts around here lately are "I absolutely know what I want so tell me what I need to know within these very specific guidelines." I don't think people should get butthurt because others are suggesting they may not be examining the larger picture. Look at this thread, the cars thread and camera thread... all the same thing.

I realize that; I was referring to posters like Apoc who came roaring out of the gate with sedans and wagons. Not to speak for Justin here, but he's from Da'Buck (country as hell), so I think he realizes the usefulness of a medium sized pickup and how it would apply to his particular situation. I was merely remarking on the absence of recognition of Justin's criteria, which I'm sure he gave serious thought to, thereby canceling out subsequent sedan/wagon ideas which were nullified before they were even suggested. Just because everyone didnt stroke Justins ego and tell him exactly what he wanted to hear doesnt mean it was bad advice, and sometimes its best to consider different options than you originally intended - maybe there's something you didnt think of.

I would borrow dads truck, but driving 45minutes to their house and back to Richmond to borrow a truck when I need it immediately would get rather bothersome and to much of a hassle.

I appreciate all of you guys input. But im pretty dead set on a Truck/SUV. No matter what I get it will get better city MPG than the eclipse which is like 11 mpg. I realize the benefits of a wagon, but the more I think about it its just not my style. I think that is what it all comes down to, and a truck/SUV seems to fit. As Goodspeed said, I am from the sticks, and there has always been a deep down need for a Truck/SUV that I cant explain. I may start looking into a fullsize truck, i never thought of a lightning, would be pretty badass, but the redneck in me is coming out again, thinking that my household needs something 4wd/awd, and since Casey has the focus now, and the GSX albeit does well in the snow i don't wanna risk it, and want something 4wd and Casey agrees.
