Air not water

Didnt actually happen in those pics. I was doing it all day. Its my own damn fault. Finally hit about 2 feet of water at 40ish mph and the stock air intake is at the front of the airbox at the grill. Finally sucked in too much water and shut off. I pulled the air box off and attempted to restart and all hell broke loose. Should have gotten tools and pulled the plugs and whatnot but oh well. My own stupid fault, but it was damn fun. Once i get a new motor in a safari snorkle is being installed. I have been meaning to order one but have just slacked.

Looks like i gave myself another damn project.... SUCKSSS

whoops! Well... at least you were having fun at the time. We did the same thing to my friend's Wrangler years ago, stalled in a wave like that, but got lucky. Took the airbox off, it was full of water, emptied it, started it back up, no problems. :dunno:

I learned of this about 2 hours before I went wheelin with Paul....in the rain. Needless to say I was a little bit paranoid driving through the river since I know two people who have hydrolocked their jeep in the last 2 weeks.

no kidding. blair will probably buy some other car at a rediculously low price and find a 4.0 motor in the trunk in pristine condition.

Im thinking the swap should be pretty easy and not cost to much.

So how do you know the motor is done? Have you tried to pull the plugs out or did you put a large hole somewhere in the block?

I let it sit for a few mins.. pulled out the airbox and soaked filter and attempted to start it. It cranked then started then made lots of loud noises and shot pieces of block into the sand.

Obviously i should have pulled the plugs and cranked it to get the water out, but i didnt have tools and in past experiences we would just restart it and everything would be fine.. but not this time
