Air not water - BLAIR - 04-06-2008 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Didnt actually happen in those pics. I was doing it all day. Its my own damn fault. Finally hit about 2 feet of water at 40ish mph and the stock air intake is at the front of the airbox at the grill. Finally sucked in too much water and shut off. I pulled the air box off and attempted to restart and all hell broke loose. Should have gotten tools and pulled the plugs and whatnot but oh well. My own stupid fault, but it was damn fun. Once i get a new motor in a safari snorkle is being installed. I have been meaning to order one but have just slacked. Looks like i gave myself another damn project.... SUCKSSS - BLINGMW - 04-07-2008 whoops! Well... at least you were having fun at the time. We did the same thing to my friend's Wrangler years ago, stalled in a wave like that, but got lucky. Took the airbox off, it was full of water, emptied it, started it back up, no problems. :dunno: - ScottyB - 04-07-2008 if you can kill a 4.0 jeep you can officially kill anything  i bet you'll come up with a pristine $50 boneyard engine knowing how you roll - Andy - 04-07-2008 That's awesome. Were you guys in the outerbanks? Or can you run rampant in the eastern shore? Swapping out a 4.0 can't be that bad, right? - Ryan T - 04-07-2008 I learned of this about 2 hours before I went wheelin with Paul....in the rain. Needless to say I was a little bit paranoid driving through the river since I know two people who have hydrolocked their jeep in the last 2 weeks. - Maengelito - 04-07-2008 ScottyB Wrote:i bet you'll come up with a pristine $50 boneyard engine knowing how you roll no kidding. blair will probably buy some other car at a rediculously low price and find a 4.0 motor in the trunk in pristine condition. and for the record, i would've thought that the toureg would be busted after salt water touched it  - Mike - 04-07-2008 Maengelito Wrote:and for the record, i would've thought that the toureg would be busted after salt water looked at it  fixed. - BLAIR - 04-07-2008 Andy Wrote:That's awesome. Im thinking the swap should be pretty easy and not cost to much. - CaptainHenreh - 04-07-2008 BLAIR Wrote:Im thinking the swap should be pretty easy and not cost to much. 1JZ. - ViPER1313 - 04-07-2008 So how do you know the motor is done? Have you tried to pull the plugs out or did you put a large hole somewhere in the block? - BLAIR - 04-07-2008 ViPER1313 Wrote:So how do you know the motor is done? Have you tried to pull the plugs out or did you put a large hole somewhere in the block? I let it sit for a few mins.. pulled out the airbox and soaked filter and attempted to start it. It cranked then started then made lots of loud noises and shot pieces of block into the sand. Obviously i should have pulled the plugs and cranked it to get the water out, but i didnt have tools and in past experiences we would just restart it and everything would be fine.. but not this time - Feersty - 04-07-2008 Sucks dude. That guy must be ballin to have a Touareg out there. - Mike - 04-07-2008 Feersty Wrote:That guy must be ballin to have a Touareg out there. :?: - Dave - 04-07-2008 The hole in the block of your old 240 didn't stop you! :-) That thing sounded horrible giving up its final breath trying to climb up Port Republic... - BLAIR - 04-08-2008 Dave Wrote:The hole in the block of your old 240 didn't stop you! :-) haha that was awesome. Deff the first time i have seen a motor blow and actually shoot a rod out onto the road. shitty KA - BLAIR - 04-08-2008 Feersty Wrote:Sucks dude.
