Just from what I've read about intakes on NA cars, the filter is where you're going to pick up the most power and like you said, most intakes will give you a couple horsepower at best. Your butt dyno probably won't even notice a difference between the two, so it might be worth it to swap it out for the quiter CF bling and throw in a high flow panel filter if you don't already have one. That way you're not sacrificing too much power, it will look good and the sound won't bug you as much.

The AEM CAI i had on the RS was loud to, but i was a ricer and loved it. The CF one looks mo betta, is the OEM airbox that bad??? or will the CF cover allow more airflow than the factory cover??? I agree with lee, the filter is the biggest thing.

the oem airbox is not bad at all. the cooling plate reduces IATs a good bit at speed, but it's really more about the bling since IATs are not something i really need to be worrying about.

That sounds like something you would have noticed beforehand, no? Does that mean you have to take it off?

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

It isn't a "wild" driveway, but the gutter sits at what is apparently a "perfect" location. I won't have to take it off... it was done for me. I'm not complaining like "OMG I'm so stupid now I can't live there." I have no problem parking in the street. I took a closer look... apparently one of the bolts hit an edge just perfectly. Oh well.

I ended up taking the AEM V2 off yesterday. The car was running really funny recently; I think it had to do with the shitty securing of sensors and vacuum lines that AEM considers acceptable. The stock box also looks 5x better in the engine bay and it no longer sounds like any other POS with an intake when I get on it.

No longer my project, but the buyer had been keeping me in the loop...

In the first month it had new badges (christ), a new O2 sensor, and a new cat. Not sure why it needed the emissions shit since inspection wasn't due until September?

Poor car has probably met a light pole by now (based on how quickly it received new badges)... and the kid lived in Great Falls... and his parents bought it for him... Do I dare ask him how things are going?

FWIW, I've had 0 remorse. The Civic gets me around the one time (average) I drive it per week and I've now saved ~$2k.

not sure what was wrong with the car but federal emissions law require cats (and faulty O2 sensors related to cat problems) to be covered under warranty for 8yrs/80k miles. I dont think the stook had nearly that many miles so it was probably free for him.

no idea.

maeng, he did get them covered under warranty, but there were no CELs when i sold the car... seems odd that both items would fail within the first week.

Maybe he did what you probably would in the same situation, something's old and you can get easily replaced under warranty? I would do that in a heart beat!

As for the badges, he bought a honda! What else do you expect?

Preventitive??? Maybe his dad told him to do it just for the hell of it.

honda is VERY tight of warranty stuff. they wouldn't just do it to do it.
