My girlfriend must have the Focus from hell then.. In the past 6 months I've replaced.
-ignitor
-burst coolant hose (wtf!?)
-and now this power window regulator
time to burn it to the ground.

My brother (NTIman) and I bought our foci within a week of one another, and the only problems we've had, have been people hitting us. Routine maintainance FTW I guess. I don't know how old your g/f's car is, but ours are approaching 3 years this august and mine (and I'm pretty sure my brother's too) still runs like a top.
But lets keep in mind too. Its an econobox, its a disposable car, so not everybody is gonna have the same results.

It's an 01...
a simple google search looking up window regulator install for 01 focus has me even more scared now. Seems to be a common problem that the ignition locks itself, oh joy.

99, 00, & 01 Foci were really terrible cars. They had a horrible reputation that ford had to work their asses off to get out of.

I have to disagree, my problems with me 05 include 2 leaking power steering reservoir hoses, a leaking axle seal, and a bad bearing somewhere between the transmission input shaft and the wheel. 49,000 miles. I'm ditching it as soon as I can.
Other than that stuff, its a pretty decent car.

Ok, So I didn't know about all those problems you were having. Anyway, I think its hit or miss with these cars. I mean I love mine, but lets be honest its a commuter car, not a performance car in the least. And we'd probably look to get rid of mine sometime too, but we are in for the long haul with this one thanks to a tractor trailer and Dallas Hollar Ford's shoddy body work.

Check my thread in the tech section. Still don't regret the purchase.

:?:
But there's no tech in your thread?
But there is a comprehensive list of repairs and issues that I have had to deal with. What is tech anyway? Saying I took off a valve cover and set fire to it? Or something similar? It's 13 pages long.

Hey Chad,
I think thats the same thing Adam linked me too, pretty big torrent file. Is there anyway you can get scans of the parts for window regulator removal/installation?
If not, no biggie. But if you can I'd appreciate it.

Is it located in the door?
Yes Sir, should be behind the door panel. I've never worked on anything interior wise in this car, so i dont want to break any unneccessary parts, etc.
It's driver side, 01 ZX3, Hatch, Power Windows.
Theres nothing really on replacing the power window regulator, or anything in the door. Just yank the trim panel out and replace whats broke.
