Where the hell did they get a 4-rotor engine?

That sounds amazing...I'm pretty sure you can build a 4 rotor, I'm not sure if its either two 13B two rotors mated together or a 3 rotor Cosmo with an extra rotor but man...that car is rediculous

You used to be able to buy a crate 4 rotor from Mazdaspeed, I think, but at the very least they used a 700hp n/a 4 Rotor for racing forever.

A four rotor is a little more than "two 13B's slapped together" but the modularity of the wankel makes building a 4 rotor from 2 two-rotors alot easier than building, say, a V8 out of two I-4's.

You could get the 4 rotor eccentric shaft from someplace like this, and then use 13B (or maybe Renesis?) housings and rotors and bolt them all together.

You'd probably make 4-500 horsepower without really trying too hard.

(P.S. Granny's speed shop made a "ghetto" 4 rotor by basically welding two E-Shafts of 13b's together to run in a dirt car, but I can't find the link.)

there is a guy in aussie land campaigning a 4 rotor FD that he put together. it's well up there in power and holds down some pretty amazing times. i think it's one of only a handful, if not the only, 4 rotor FD in australia.

I found that link:

"The engine design uses modified 13B eccentric shafts, and the two engines are joined by a custom made 3/8" thick aluminum adapter plate...By joining the two engines as I did (using only 1/2 the normally required flywheel and counterweight mass), the engine rev'ed much faster than a single engine by its self...In the form shown here, output was around 550hp."

Neat stuff.

that's so cool...i have to salute guys that create stuff like that on their own time. i don't even want to attempt to think of what a 550 hp 4 rotor does to a car that size!
