If you're not already at the track, watch your speed on the way in. I saw 3 LC Sherrif in the span on 10 miles on Route 7.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I should post a short write up of my weekend...

Saturday I crewed for the Derecola's (Apoc and his Dad) - I wanted to come hang out @ hyperfest, and I'm a whore for free lunch and hotel room. Fortunately, I didnt have to do too much other than change the wheels and hang out on grid before the race. Had a good time watching the "scenery", drifting, and general mockery of the "tuner" crowd.

Sunday I was off on Shenandoah with my CBR to do a track day with TPM. The day got off to a bit of a rough start. The drifting crowed had dragged a bunch of dirt/mud onto the track so there was about an hour delay while the track send a water truck over to pressure wash the mud off the line, leaving the track by pit-out wet for the first half of the day, but no big deal. I thought some of the guys in my group were going to faint and fall off the bike when they saw a wet track though.

Finally get moving out on the track... first session out, I dont think the tires were really scrubbed in (500 street miles maybe) and almost had to put myself in the "caption this high-side" thread. I bend it into a tight right hander, start to roll on it and the tire spins up - it was a pretty easy slide, but then it grabbed traction on the sealer crap and almost spit me off. I just kept the tires on the inside of it the rest of the day.

Tires seemed scrubbed in on the 2nd session, so I just put my head down and did the go-fast thing. The improvements I did on the bike recently really made a big difference, and the braking/handling was really good, unlike the last event where I felt like the bike wouldnt stop or turn. I had some pretty positive commentary from all the instructors I was out on track with too. I'll be out on track next weekend @ Jefferson too, cant wait!

I didnt buy any trackside pics, they looked exactly the same as the last track day at shenandoah, and there werent very many of each rider. Thumbnail pics on their website though:

lets just say a guy and his g/f got friendly on the back of hunter's car infront of everyone, mike is shining his headlamp directly on them, we are all laughing our asses off and it continues. thus the nickname for this random kid, "Handypants". it must of been the romantic fireworks in the background that set them off.

FYI it was not a MM member
