Considering how much of a PITA it is to drop trans, replace everything, even the through out bearing, they are cheap.

+1
I could have the trans out, split the cases, reassemble it and put it back in the car in under 3 hours on the racecar... but it sucked every single time I did that.

So RJ pretty much hit the nail.
Cracks around 3 of the spring seats.
Question now is, can I replace just the clutch disc, keeping the pressure plate reliably? Or should I just bite the bullet and replace the whole thing?
yay! shards of metal in my crankcase!
Also, where would you go in NOVA to get a flywheel resurfaced? Should I bring my pressure plate along too and get that done as well?

You can resurface your flywheel at any machine shop. You can't machine the pressure plate. It looks like you have the exedy sport disc setup which means you have to buy it as a set. The disc that exedy sells separately is a stock replacement not the sport disc.
Two feet.
wow, that's a clutch...problem....all right. lordy.

Replace the pressure plate along w/ the clutch disc. Anywhere that turns brake rotors should be able to turn a flywheel.

is that like... a miata thing?
