New G35 Sedan
#1
Anyone else seen one? F'ing hotness! I was a big fan of the previous G35, but this one solved all those little aestethic quirks IMO. The new rear end looks really good in person (the picture below doesn't do it justice).

So now I have to throw this back towards the top of potential next cars...

Though I think it looks fantastic, it's been showing up on the ass side of comparos between it and the TL/IS350.

car and driver
road and track

It's not getting beat badly.

Mostly just bitching about the shifter and few little things.

My brother's TL is pretty sweet, goes quickly and frankly, no one buys these cars for "performance." You're not going to be taking the thing to the track anytime soon so why compromise on the creature comforts.

I drove my coworkers IS350. I like everything about it except the slushbox, paddly shifter and the styling. It's traction control also kicks in really easily. It's scary as shit when you want to add throttle through a turn, and the car says, "NO!"

There's a difference between skimping on gadgets to save weight for performance, and putting the power down through the proper drive wheels. 270hp and FWD... You cant honestly say this is a good combonation. Every time you give it full power its just going to light up the tires - whats the fun in that? And the torque steer you'll get... blegh.

Don't both of you guys race FWD?

Honestly, I didn't notice any of those symptons and I assume no one should on the street. Luxury sedans aren't really my thing but if I were to shell out the dough for one, I'd expect it to have luxury coming out of its ass.

not a fan of this current styling. it's become too rounded off for me.

i think the chassis and engine are killer but i've only ever had a real liking for the old coupe.

never said it was ideal. 140hp w/ r-comps is much more manageable than 270 on all-seasons anyway.

My race car was 100hp and 1500 lbs short of the TL.

Does that question really need an answer?

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

In all seriousness, its a lux sedan. Drive it accordingly. I didn't notice any torque steer but I wasn't racing for pinks either.

I don't think any of these cars will let you light up the tires to begin with it's traction/stability controls.

i think the instructor clinic i did in the rain a few years back at VIR-N was one of the most fun track events i've ever had. it was pissing down rain and for some reason i was 1 of 3 or 4 awd cars there. everything else was high hp corvettes, porsches, mustangs and bmws that seemed like they had parked on the track
