Funny story about court today
#1
Here's how my day started so far:

I woke up this morning on my day off with the raging shits. I mean I must have run to the bathroom at least three times while trying to get dressed. It was probably that BDub's mango habanero sauce I slathered all over my sandwich last night, who knows.

So anyway, I thought today was really going to suck already, as I opted to not prepay two tickets I got on 81 in the Lexus... one for 80 in a 65, the other for tint being too dark. I make the drive down there, get through the judge introductions. The judge seems like a really cool guy, but he's not giving anyone a break at all. I mean people are begging him to take the course, or to lessen the fine and all he says is no.

I'm like oh well, I was going to plead no contest and at least explain my story, but I decided to just go with the guilty plea. Dude calls my name and actually pronounces it right, which really surprised me because nobody ever gets it right the first time. I go up to the stand and he's like:
"Do you know that your family is of huge historical significance?"
Me: "Yes sir, several members of my family were really famous Civil War officers..."
Him: "Yes, Admiral Raphael Semmes who captained the CSS Alabama, the Union blockade raider and I believe there was a general who served at Gettysburg"
Me: "Yes sir, that's correct."
Him: "How are you related?"
Me: "First cousin, twice removed from Raphael, no clue on the general"
Him: "Wow that's really cool! I'm a huge history buff!"

So he laughs, looks at the officer and is like "I think we'll throw this tint ticket out!" He then asks me if I've changed it, and I told him no because I can't really afford it right now. The officer tells me about a tint removal kit you can get at Walmart, and the judge is like "There you go, he's helping you out! You really need to get that changed right away, take care."

I was like FUCK yeah!! hehe I said a big thanks to my relatives from the grave for being ballers 8) Hopefully I can carry on that tradition ^_^

Haha nice dude! It's always a great feeling when things go your way in court... Did you get wreckless for the 80 in a 65?

No reckless, thank God. He got me going faster than that, but he cut me a break because I was polite, explained that I had to pass some tractor trailers that were boxing me out of my exit, and probably because I was well-dressed and didn't talk like a retard.

There he is, getting his gangsta lean on!

"Old Beeswax" was the most infamous Confederate naval officer in the Civil War. He and his ship, the Alabama, captured or sunk 69 vessels comprised of the Union blockade on all Southern ports... in essence, he acted as a pirate =P This number, combined with his enemy vessel pwnings when he captained the Sumter, makes 87 which is apparently a record that still stands today!

He caused over 6 million dollars in damage, which back then was a HUGE sum. The Alabama was eventually sunk during the war by the USS Kearsage, which challenged the Alabama when it put into port at Cherbourg, France to get fresh powder / ammunition and make repairs necessary from battling at sea for many many months.

Admiral Semmes (captain at the time) refused to decline their challenge and fought them anyway, despite the huge disadvantage. During the battle, one of the Alabama's shells actually lodged in a portion of the Kearsage and would have sunk it, except that it didn't explode due to the wet powder. The Alabama was sunk, and Raphael and a bunch of his crewmates balled out on a British ship that was watching the battle. He returned to the states and became a Brigadier General.

Little history lesson that I'm sure the judge today was well aware of =D There was a book written about our family and my father is really into history, so I've done quite a bit of research on our family. I even know the name of the very first Semmes in existence: "Marmaduke Semme" Apparently he was a drunk hahaha!

Chan's family founded Virginia Tech, as well as the Lexington law school (now Washington and Lee college of law)....his great-great grandfather actually convinced Gen. Lee to join up with the college... Confusedhock: Not to mention Va legislators and governors that were Prestons... Confusedhock:
