I have a performance oriented car.
I drive on old dry rotted goodyear all season tires.
I can still take any interstate exit ramp at 2x the posted limit.
if you need any more than that for "driving enjoyment" you (let me repeat myself) drive like a dipshit.
eschewing an all season tire for the "rare occasion" that you will be forced to go out in the snow is like not wearing a condom for the rare occasion that you fuck a girl with an STD.
It only takes once to fuck your shit up.
I do not have the space to store an extra set of wheels and tires. I want decent tires on my car for autox events. That same tire must be suitable for street driving. I don't mind putting the keys away on snow days. I think summer tires fit there.

Your STD analogy, although funny, does not really apply. You pretty much know when it is going to snow around here. Every news station warns of the impending doom of 1.5 inches of coming snow well before anything falls. For your analogy to work the girl would have to have some massive worts or visible puss, and nobody would be fucking that condom or no condom.

I think that was one of grossest visuals ever on this forum. I laughed but then I almost threw up a little...

He wasnt calling you a dipshit. And its not ignorance when you're right about it. The no-name cheapass 195/60/14's on my new beater provide more than enough ammunition to drive like a complete jackass on the street.
And if you cant read between the lines, I think your tire choice for the WRX is just fine. The few days a year it snows... stay home, so what.

btw.. 712s weren't a snow-tire choice, they came on a second set of rims when I bought the car... hence they are now my all-season spares.
Hahaha you know one caveat I didn't mention because I didn't think it applied to anyone here is that you might need some all-season tires if you are 'essential personnel' (i.e. medical, fire, or law enforcement).

Wouldn't a battle stage with STis not be indicative of the average member here? I would think a FWD showdown would be more telling about their usefulness in wintery conditions.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
True, but a STi showdown would be more fun.

well justin was the original poster asking about tires for his wrx, so i would think awd battle stage would be applicable. i have seperate wheels and snow tires for the event that we get snow. sure it'll only be a handful of days per year that i'll really need them, but i'll still use them from before the first forecast of snow until spring time. i figure that extends ~1/4 of the life of my summer tires by not using them all year round. and for those days that it does snow, its nice not to be stuck at home if i dont wanna be home.

have you gotten any hits on your car man? There was a fair amount of interest when I first listed it on cars.com, but not lately. My parents neighbor is "very interested", but if I had a nickel...
Let's stay on topic though. I think the topic was tons of bitching.

does it only start snowing before you leave for the day?
and furthermore, do you really examine vaginas for approval?
