Roast or Toast - The Beer Trolling Thread
"Only 80 IBU"... lol. I won't drink anything over 35. Sounds like it tastes like gin, which is really just booze they fermented in the bottom of a Christmas tree stand. Hard pass.

I like Berlinner Weisse and love sours, but there A LOT of bad ones. The taps in this part of the country these days are 60% IPA, 20% sour, 10% stout, and 10% cider. I end up drinking way too many sours, which gets lame when my fragile old man body starts getting acid reflux after the third sour.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Sours are usually hit or miss for me. There are a lot of bad ones. One sour per sitting is about my limit before my body says please give me something else.

i have a BUNCH of gins for you to try to get your mind off the christmas tree thing...

also... 35 IBUs is pretty low. is it the bitterness? is it a flavor you don't like? my american pale is 41 IBUs with only a touch of bitterness, no pine... floral and citrus notes in the aroma and its malt forward with a citrus finish.

on the left coast they love the piny resin with a big bitterness up front

I think bitterness is really exaggerated for my taste buds, because things like tonic water and grapefruit are vomit inducing for me... even with a bunch of crap to cover up the flavor. I much prefer milk stouts over other stouts because they're less bitter. Even some pilsners are too bitter for me. Forget it if they're hopped. Pretty much anything with "ale" in the name is gonna be out for me. I want to like them because it limits my options... just can't do it. The aftertaste is what gets me. I also think hops smell kinda gross. I'm not sure if I'm able to separate the smell from the memory of the bitterness, though.

Beer here is pretty crap, for someone with my taste. I much prefer those brewed in Germany and Belgium. Went here last week and loved their varied selection.

unless tart/sour lemony tasting beer is your thing, in which case you'll love it

The trend on the east coast seems to be take a berlinner weisse and load it up with fruit so it just ends up a boozy fruit slushie.  Nothing wrong with that really, but, its not a berlinner.

I really want to like this, but it tastes a bit like medicine... if I'm honest. I think it's the Mayor Marion Barry polluting the whole thing.

I'm all in on farmhouse/saison beers this year. Which means probably lagers next year.
