CaptainHenreh Wrote:But where to put the overflow tank? If I put it in the old spot, I'd literally have the overflow line running diagonally across the engine bay...so I decided to eliminate the enormous airbox and replace it with a cone filter. It is 100% barrio rigged, but it seems to work fine. The guy at vatozone asked me if I was building a cold air intake, I wanted to tell him I was building a bong, but didn't think fast enough.

I lol'd. Slightly OT, but I've read (on the internet, thus true) that the stock XJ airbox is horriblé and virtually anything else gets you massive amounts of horsepower and better mpgees. Notice any difference?

Ask Ryan next time you're talking with him about the time he walked into the 2JZ block barefoot, in the dark, in our Squire Hill living room. I think a hospital trip was had Confusedhock:

ahh good times, tires stacked to the ceiling, engine blocks laying around, and the good ole MM beer pong table in the middle. God we had a shitty apt  Then again it was $270 a month compared to the outrageous amounts all those apts are now charging.

I have no idea, I haven't actually driven the thing. Just sort of, you know, run it trying to bleed out all the air. I'll...let you know?

I think long-term the filter might go under neath the windshield wipers in the cowl. Apparently that's pretty common, and gives you a moderately clean "airbox" with lots of volume. But for now, everything appears to be working ok? Keep in mind, I didn't do this for performance, this is simply for a cleaner engine bay. (And lawdamarcy is it cleaned up)

BTW, big BZ to Jeff & Woodstock Garage for hooking a motherfucker up with the "new" coolant parts I could not easily acquire from vatozone.

I knew as soon as I heard the weird noise and then the "Oh Shit, Jason come here" that something bad was going on. Very bad.
