You are the 2nd person to link me to that. Unfortunately I know how much it costs to race a Porsche since I work for a Porsche racing team every now and then. Spend my entire season's budget on the first race. Maybe someday if I ever land into a pile of money I can't see past.

Well we all know you aren't going to run Spec Miata so it's either a BMW in Spec E46 or a BMW in GTS3.
I hate to ask now, but would it be more cost effective to modify #186 for GTS3 over selling it and buying a car that's turn-key for the class?

You think spec e46 will really have the numbers of participants to make it entertaining. At least for the first couple years? I'm actually asking as I've been away from the track for awhile, not trying to say I know it won't.
I think you really need a class that'll be at least mildly challenging for you on the local level.

Has it changed? Cause spec 3 was like struggling to get 7 cars usually which would be similar to gts2.

Spec3 is only "busy" in Mid-Atlantic region. It's pretty dead elsewhere.
I think SE46 is going to be good/fun to run with (not that SE30 wouldn't be, but the E46 class being newer could be fun to join in on) - it's just an expensive build.

I have the cams to do GTS3, but really GTS3 is an E46 M3 class, I would ALWAYS be the underdog, and while it's fun to win while being one, if I lost; I wouldn't know wether it was my driving or the car.
Spec E46 is not really preferrable since I actually think I am going to spend MORE money on that class, but it lets me run gts2 as well (Althought not quite as quick as my current car). But with James Clay backing it, and it does seem to have a lot of good momentum. (8 cars built already in the Mid-Atlantic area). Clay has a lot of sway, and although I don't agree with some of the ruleset that makes the cars more expensive than they should be, it is the way it is. If it fails, the backup is always GTS2 and it looks like if it fails, it means gts2 just gets bigger.

Factory Five/Spec Iron..awesome, but nothing local, and "barely" national. Spec E30 still has my interest as well, so does Spec Miata. The idea of being in the middle of 40-odd cars in the same class gets me all tingly inside. The "price" of Spec Miata scares me on top of the "cheating/bendy rules interpretation", and the "tin-can" and slow disappearance of Spec E30 has me worried.
Evan, I hope you do come back out at some point in time. The non-production cars in NASA are pretty mucch always relegated to "also-ran" or terrible.
Talked at length with a guy about F2000 but its a bit pricey for me. I have also thought about SRF, but I don't like SCCA. I just don't. I race for the weekend experience, I couldn't be one of those guys that shows up to race, races, and goes home. I want to drink/hang out/shoot the shit. I also don't like having to travel so far unless I want to. SCCA/BMWCCA have a lot of "out of region stuff" which is a pain. Convince me though, details?

American iron? Is that the same as spec iron?
But, yes, in for 40 car fields. Looks like a much more fun experience. Less out of class cars getting in the way too. Spec miata takes up so much grid space.
