Offset..the distance the hub mounting surface is to the centerline of the wheel.
+ closer to the outside
- closer to the inside
Backspacing..the distance from the wheel mounting surface to the inner lip of the wheel

To get the look, and push the wheel out further to the fender you'll need a wheel with a negative offset like -30 or something or a lower - offset with some 5-10mm spacers.
For instance, on the gsx it came with 17x7/7.5 don't remember with a like +35 offset or something.
Since I don't have alot of fender to push out the wheel into I had to push the tire closer to the inside, so + offset.
17x8 are +35mm and sit close to flush with the outside of the fender with room. 17x9 w/ +38 mm sit flush with the fender and give me the max wheel I can fit, with like 2mm of space before it hits the suspension
Your car is basically the opposite from what I can tell.
Very little room on the inside of the wheel well, and a crap ton of room under the fender

Goodspeed Wrote:Sort of OT, but I never understood how engineers from before 1985 didn't get the whole big/long/heavy/wide car Ôëá 195mm tires. I'm sure they rode great but the handling test videos from the era are just deplorable. Explain that to me
Higher sidewall tires can hold a lot more of a load than low-profile tires... and I am sure that 1985 tire tech was not what it is today. Wider tires are a lot harder to manufacture than skinny ones. I'm also sure tire costs played into the equation. So manufacturers used narrow skinny tires because they were cheaper and could handle the heavy loads placed on them.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Guy at my local speed shop tells me he will order in 1 rim for me so I can check things out and if I don't want it he will only charge $12 to ship it back. So I am going to try 9in with a 00mm offset and a 4.5in back spacing. I think I will have some inside rubbing up front but nothing on the fenders. My father wants high dollar tires on it so it sounds like we are getting Pilot Sports...I will need to see that to believe it.

Installed a Viper 211hp Keyless entry system and power door lock actuators this weekend. Was pretty easy and a great mod for an older car without power stuff. Got a date for a local shop to install the headliner so I have until Feb 16 to get it driveable or pay to have it towed!

Tow it with the Dakota.

That would be easy if I had a trailer large enough. I have a friend with a diesel and a proper trailer that has agreed to haul it.
