You must shotgun a 4-loco for all future track events where you do not get pictures..! 8)

EDIT: Cross-Post from the Member Projects section, thought it was fitting...

And lesson learned...I need to not bojangle and be thorough with getting the car ready for weekends. Before I go on and start to ramble, huge thanks for Justin, Kaan, DJ and others who helped out with getting the car fixed.

Decided to do the Open Practice day on Friday because some Type-aAAAR friends were coming down for it. The day started to go downhill at the tech shed where Justin thought he smelled fuel from the engine bay. Turns out the hose from the FPR to return line had deteriorated over time and I believe we found some small pin holes in it. I guess time just took its toll on it because it isn't very high pressure or anything. Was unable to find fuel hose in the paddock so I had to head into Winchester Autozone to pick some up. By the time I came back, I had missed the first session of the day.. danG!

2nd session, good to go and my first time in the pass anywhere with a point by group. The Corvette instructor guys basically all were in the group and just rolling house in the group, but it was fun none the less. Car problems reared it's ugly head again this session when I noticed some smoke billowing into the cabin, at first I thought it was fuel but we double checked the new hose for leaks and there was no smell. Pitted in and opened the engine bay to find it sprayed with some sort of fluid, and was luckily able to spot it was mainly coming from the axle/trans area. Stupid me didn't put the VSS (Vechile Speed Sensor), which us Honda guys use to fill the trans with MTF -- twisted it in and prayed it would not leak (also consulted some of the HC guys and they said it would be ok).

3rd session my nerves were a bit calmer, and decided to head out late to avoid the vette guys. Was able to catch up with a Spec-3 car, and some of the ITR's and that was pretty fun.

Other than that the rest of the weekend went pretty well minus a minor moneyshift into 2nd instead of 4th -- might actually pop the valve cover/plugs off and see if I can spot anything. The oil will be getting sent to Blackstone this time around since I forgot to send it off, and maybe the magnetic plug will do its job and pick up any bits and pieces.

Anyways -- good weekend, always a blast at HyperFest. Thanks to everyone who helped me out, and of course introduced my friend Ivan to the "Go-Fast-Crack-Pipe"

Till next time suckas..

My boring ass video... gave up on using the GoPro after first session Saturday seeing how bad the GoPro rollbar mount shakes inside the car.

I love Hyperfest for the awesome pictures that come out of it due to photographers like Primo Lifestyle, RSB, and FlimFlam.

I came in 2nd on Saturday by a whopping .36 seconds, 1st on Sunday. I wish I had ran video, especially for Saturday's race. It was really nice to have a heated battle as I got to see a lot more of the mistakes I regularly make and how they can bite me in a close race. I lost because of those many mistakes, and hopefully I will learn from them to bring it stronger next time. I need to be a bit more aggressive with traffic, I tend to wait for a clean line because I am not usually in a rush to get by someone. Skeen took advantage and just plowed through. By the end of the race, I had caught on.

Misshifts. For some reason since I put in this new transmission/DSSR, I have been having constant misshifts. At least 1-2 a race. I was alongside Skeen on the straightaway pulling past after a good exit of turn 10, and I misshifted, allowing him to speed back up and get just enough speed to block me in. May be time for a race shifter instead of the stock I have now.

Lastly, gearing. I love my 3.64, but its pretty obvious the past year how the guys with 3.73s pull on me on the straights (blow past me in my draft, yet pull away slowly on me even if I am in their draft). Was one of those "didnt care" because I was doing well, and to change gearing is another $750. If I keep the car, I think I will be doing this over the winter.

Luckily the car was not that mangled from the hit from Skeen, and I will only need to replace my splitter. (back to my high-pressure composite splitter, AKA Plywood  )

Reallly cool image of the restart of the audobahn race Sunday.

What's the story on Skeen? Is he a pro racer that comes back to NASA once in a while or is he just really good? Everyone keeps throwing his name around but I don't know anything about him besides that he can drive.

The ginger stig.

Started as a spec e30 driver with NASA, won e30 national championship.

Now is a pro driver in SCCA and World Challenge.

Comes back to NASA events pretty often, can drive anything with 4 wheels pretty damn well.

Really nice guy, seems down to earth.

From his website:
Skeen is an American race car driver that cut his teeth racing karts and progressed through grassroots motorsports to reach the professional level. He now has victories to his name in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge GT Series, Trans-Am, SCORE Baja 1000, NASA, and experience in GRAND-AM and NASCAR. He currently drives the Hawk Performance/CRP Racing Nissan GT-R in World Challenge and is a sought-out professional driving instructor.

Came from karts at age 10, has been racing ever since. The man has his traffic skills down, I will tell you that! Boy could I dream to have his job (racing/coaching is his full time gig)
