"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I'm with Blair, just buy the C. You know you want that big ballin bling. If a CTS is too small...I mean... you want a really big car. I think a 300 would be a superior choice. Even a 3.5L model wouldn't be bad.

Sorry dude, I think your brain is broken. You'd rather have a Grand Prix than a CTS?

You could get a Mazda 3 wagon for that money. Or a well used 330i. You could get a Fusion, that's kind of like a Taurus...you're familiar with those.

There's also a Toyota Box...before you laugh, I drove one and they're super nice. Lots of visibility, tons of space, slow as tortoise that can't feel it's legs.
If I was going to spend CTS cash I would buy a Charger, which is much quicker and ergonomically friendly for someone who is 6'3". I am trying not to do another compact car, and I'm not buying anything made in or anywhere close to Germany for a while. The Fusion is meh, I would rather spring for the 500. I sat in a Camry, it was a legitimate choice, but truthfully I like the Gran Prix more. Leather, heated seats, auto climate control, alloy wheels, 4 wheel discs, 2 extra cylinders, remote start. And its cheaper - a lot cheaper. As far as engines go the 3.8l w/ 4-speed auto is about as bullet proof as they come.

As for why I have / want 3 cars, I want something that is not an old shitbox with questionable reliability. The SHO is the odd man out - I haven't sold it because it doesn't cost me jack to insure and noone will pay me anything close to what I have into it.

BTW, this is the Gran Prix in question - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.fitzmall.com/carfind/resultsb.asp?Search=USED&ID=LA49640&photo=2G2WP552071149640&loc=FCG">http://www.fitzmall.com/carfind/results ... 40&loc=FCG</a><!-- m -->

2002 is so 6 years ago. I would do a GS300 in a heartbeat, I just don't know whether it is worth the extra 6-7g it would cost me.

EDIT - I would also rather do this whole transaction through a dealership it possible, and not a shady one. I don't want to have to mess with getting a bank loan / selling the Rabbit 3rd party.

If you're gonna go GM FWD goodness, you should get a MC or Impala SS - You pretty much can't beat the reliability of a SBC. Those 3.x's are pretty good too. My mom's older one has 150k miles on it, but she did have to get a tranny rebuilt at like 128k or so

1. IIRC 04' TLs like to shit their transmissions like it's their job and that car is being sold 3rd party.

2. 5 years old and the CTS is surprisingly small on the inside. I drove one and was not impressed - really. The STS would be fine but they are much more expensive.

3. Like I said, I don't think I can justify the price + mileage + year gap. 5 years older, double the miles and 3g more expensive.

Really guys - the daily isn't meant to be a sports car. I am more interested in reliability, a good ride and roomy interior than power or FWD vs RWD. The life of this car is a 30 mile commute down a stretch of 270 - nothing more, nothing less.

I just... don't get it.

"I want a super plain car that's reliable."

You've got two cars that are more than plain and can offset each other's reliability. Sure, they might cost money to maintain, but a new car costs money to buy. I get it if you want a new car, I bought a third motorcycle on a whim when I got a real job and all that (and it's merely a toy), but if you're buying a GP/G6 you're buying vanilla and, maybe it's me, but I don't see the point in buying New Vanilla.

Saving money can be nice. Really, I wish I had more of it.

*edit* I know you're gonna get annoyed that people keep saying "why" - but I felt the need to participate. So there.

Hyundai Sonata?

i've had one as a rental several times and my g/f just bought one. Great car for what you're looking for IMO. Very roomy interior, nice sound system, responsive, a whole lotta airbags, comfortable, reliable, cheap upfront cost, great warranty, and good on gas. The SE model is standard manual transmission as well.

I looked at one of these too - sadly missing about 2" of leg room. It was a lot of car for the money though.

If that's really the case, why not buy like a late ninetes accord or civic or something? 35 MPG, cheap, reliable as hell, plenty of room. Why drive a $15k car through traffic, fender benders, and door dings every day? Save some $$, invest in stocks, buy a house.

I can't fit comfortably in a Civic, I would do an Accord if I could find the right deal on one (at a dealership in MD, 2005+, auto, not crazy expensive.)

Here's what I can't figure out. You are not freakishly tall, Evan is taller than you, and he fits in a Miata. So do you drive like a freak or something, cause I can't figure it out?
