I dont think the alliance gets you much until end-game time, except for protection. People are a lot less likely to attack someone in an alliance

Ok - think you're all invited. what's everyones status? I have 20 troops, been raiding like champ for a day and a half. Trying to get all my resources to level 3. Next thing for me is to upgrade my barracks to level 3 so I can build an Academy, and get some spearmen in my village for defense, because I'm sure I'm pissing off all my neighbors.

I'm reading FAQs and such, but I don't really get what I should be doing. Some guy attacks me overnight with 3 troops. My 2 die, 2 of his die. He comes back with 7 and raids me. The value of stuff he steals is way less than my troops were worth. So really, should I bother trying to build troops to defend? I didn't even get to raid enough with those 4 to come close to paying them off in the first place, so it was kind of a waste.

Question two, if he just starts attacking instead of raiding, and I don't have any troops.... what happens? Will he eventually take over my town or what? And to that end, how do I go about conquering these smaller towns? Or is that even possible?

Point me to another guide or FAQ or something if this is all answered somewhere please!

BTW, I'll get an embassy up and running and join up, just haven't quite figured out what the hell is really going on yet. Current status is mostly lvl2 resources, some 3, and currently 2 troops. Although, again, I don't know why I'm building them. My game name is also BLINGMW.

There's a wikipedia site you can read up on a lot of stuff - google for "The travian wikipedia" cause I can't remember the URL right off.

Go ahead and start raiding with your two troops, just dont raid any villages with more than 60 people or so. It wont be profitable, but hopefully they wont die, and they wont be in town to die if you get attacked. What i've been donig overnight is sending my troops to raid some town 4 hours away, so they get back into town when I get up the next morning(8 hours later). This "protects" them in a way, because they're not in town to get attacked if someone attacks me in my sleep.

As for attacking, not likely to happen - but, the worst case is that you'll get fed up and leave..there is no way to conquer someones capital village. If you had multiple villages, those can get conquered, but you're always guaranteed at least one.


start raiding, build more troops as resources come in, and keep them busy =)

So just as a side-note to Travis - I think I'm changing gears and picking up Farsi instead. Turns out I have a friend who speaks it, and IS an american citizen, so I can hang out with her (doenst hurt that she's pretty cute too). She told me she'd love to have someone to practice with, and could teach me the handwriting..so..a win win

I'd understand, but figured if you can't get your town over pop 3 in 4 days, well then you're not really playing!
