Project C4, 85 Corvette
I used a few fittings I had left over from the vacuum pump on the other engine.

Drilled another hole for an oil fill.

Rerouted the plug wires with some better looms. Not really huge difference, but it is to me.

Manual track in.

Submarine belt wasmounted to the floor board and too far forward. So I made a bracket to bolt to the seat frame where it bolts to the rails. I use the same gauge steel as the seat frame and double the thickness where the bolt goes through because the hole had to be off-center.

I had to cut a slit in the seat cushion for the belt. I am really hoping to find a sleeve like a real seat has in that area.

Next project is a new wheel spacer for the right rear. It currently has a 5/16 but only needs an 1/8 just to give me a little breathing room to the suspension.

After that I just need to put some miles on it...

Nice! How long do you think that pad will last before the belt starts to tear it?

I put in a new battery to replace the Optima. I did not have good luck with two "Red Tops" in a row so I took the refund under the replacement warranty and walked out of AZ with a new battery and $68.

I've taken a couple test drives and everything seems to be good for the weekend. :crossedfingers:

I think next thing I will do is find some C6 take off mufflers to quiet the thing down.

Optima batteries are some seriously overpriced junk. For my DD I bought the best store brand battery Advance had more than seven years ago and haven't bought another battery since. My free replacement warranties keep exceeding the life of the batteries by 3-4 months.

Yeah I don't hear much good about them lately. According to AZ's system I bought the first one in 2005 so I basically got to experiment for 4 yrs for nothing...about what they were both worth.

Dynomax Ultra Flow. IMHO, the best sounding outside but I had to wear ear plugs when I put in the 408 with headers. That didn't last long...

Flowmaster Super 40. Supposed to reduce resonance and droning...nope...hated them. Terrible inside...

Corsa with the 408. Kind of raspy but the trade-off for the lack of resonance is well worth it.

In car of the 434, where the Corsa earn their money. No drone, ever.

I have those on my car, but with an X-pipe which helped quiet them a bit, and get rid of the drone. It will still drone a little bit at like 2500 RPM, but it's def bearable

SHIT! There is a guy in NJ looking for...an 85 with brake, motor, and suspension upgrades, harness', and a roll bar with 9K to spend. I already sold the old block for 3K, I could put the black wheels back on and get 2K for the CCW's, another few thousand for the other engine parts and just sit and wait for either the right late 80's P-car or an early C5 fixed roof coupe (FRC, Z06 body, standard running gear).

I'm not ready to get rid of it but how often is someone in the market for this car?

i don't think you'll have another chance to unload it with the odds on your side (someone looking for exactly what you have). in this economy and with you talking about some chances to move on to different things (family muscle car, p-car..) i'd take one last good drive in it and get in touch with that guy fast.

Here is the guys WTB ad:

Looking for the 85 so I can register it in NJ. as a classic car and not worry about failing inspections with mods I make.
Modded 85s are welcomed. Perfect car would have performance mods to motor and suspension. Upgraded manual trans to 5 or 6 speed, rollbar and 5 point harness. I'll spend up to $9K so no junk. I'm not interested in any currently posted cars or projects. I'm in central NJ. Let me know what you have. Thanks, Frank

I have a response typed out, I guess it couldn't hurt to start a dialogue with him.

Sounds like a nice car but I'm thinking small block with AC still working and more streetable since my son and I will drive to/in the Silver State Classic next year. Keep yours and enjoy. Frank

Interesting, does not align very well with the original request. (And a 408 is a small block) Oh well, I wasn't that eager sell right now anyway. There is unfinished business...

The guy sounds like a dummy anyway. Would you want your car to go to a NJ guido that doesn't know what a small block is and will probably wrap it around a Jersey barrier?

I don't mind guidos really in the grand scheme of things, because they make it that much easier to fuck Jersey girls
