As a former owner of a Ralliart, it will definitely not meet the gas requirement needs. I got around 21 MPG average. 25-26 if I was luck on the highway.
Other than that, awesome.

Mike - how much do you actually plan on driving per month?
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

RJ, 31k != 25k. Could swing it, but that's wasted money. Even 25k doesn't make sense. But shit, that car is hot secx.
Would not touch a Mitsubishi.
I use about a tank of gas a month. Once it warms up, I'll be doing a fair number of highway miles on weekends.
If I were single, I'd be getting an older Forester with a turbo. Or a Golf R or something Or I would be just fine with my GTI

You gus are young, with two incomes, and probably not financing the whole thing. The extra 5k isnt much of a big deal to buy what you want, no?

FWIW, my wife has been here for eight months and doesn't have steady employment. It's best to assume one income until you know otherwise.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I have such a thing for those right now. I was practically licking the window of a '13 at Sterling BMW last week when I was hunting for some parts. Definitely considering a CPO one to replace the MKV if the MKVII doesn't blow my skirt up enough to pay new car prices.
Or if I end up living really close to the office, I might buy something weird, old and cool for cash that won't depreciate and will only cost me maintenance.
Speaking of which, how many miles do you expect to put on this thing per year? If the A4 Avant is really what does it for you, just pick up a clean, lowish mileage B7 for well within your price range and use the extra cash to have it fixed when it breaks? They look like they are in the 18-22k range with less than 60k miles.

When even $25k doesn't make sense for 5000 miles of driving per year? What's another $5k? That seems like stupid American logic.

- Space. Think: wagon. I do not want a crossover or SUV because I've never met one with any sort of enjoyable driving dynamics.
Check
- Hatch or swinging door.
Yup
- An automatic that doesn't suck.
I think
- Less than 15lbs per HP or very close to it.
Probably
- Available with lowish miles and possibly with a warranty for ~20k or known to be very reliable.
.......
you rogue. apparently it has some shitty v8 in it.
checking out a tsx wagon today.

I dont like wagons much, and that mercedes does it for me. Perfect color. If the windows were blacked out, I'd ball that all day long. I dont know what you mean by shitty v8, but I guess you meant 350 small block chevy that's been popular for 60 years? That's also that heavier duty version of that transmission.

CTS Wagon?
Wikipedia Wrote:The CTS Sport Wagon is available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive layouts, and is powered by either a 3.0-liter DOHC V6 engine or a 3.6-liter V6 with variable valve timing. The 3.0-liter engine produces 270 horsepower, and the 3.6-liter produces 304.
A quick AT search shows several under 25k with ~20-30k on the clock.
