seems really cheap for something that looks like it is still fairly nice.

Yeah Cayenne Turbos have hellacious depreciation. I know there were some issues with early ones but I'm not sure why their values are that low. Those things cost about $100k or more new. You couldn't get a 2005 911 Turbo with that kind of mileage for even $40k. Which might be a good thing, otherwise I might have bought one by now.

Probably because your next trip to the service center will cost about half of what you paid for the car.

True. But the Turbo Cayennes are crazy comfortable in the drivers seat. I'd take on if i had endless money sitting around
Supposedly the engine itself is stout, but some of the other stuff can be a problem (water pump, suspension, coil packs). Then some of the regular maintenance is expensive but I think that's only expensive when people take the car to a Porsche dealership that charges out the ass for labor. With just a cursory look on some forums people are saying a brake job is $1000 per axle including labor. Checking the parts cost for the turbo, it's about $600 for pads and rotors on the front, and maybe $400 for the rear. I'm pretty sure any of us can do that job ourselves, so that's $1000 saved right there.
Either way, it's a car that would require a good deal more money in upkeep than the average SUV.

I see someone already mentioned the 2014 SRT8 can tow, the tips are to the outside. I love the new GC. Not much on the 2014 refresh's headlamps but I will deal. Best Jeep yet by far for comfort and quality. My wife has a 2003 WJ lifted on 30in tires and I can barely stand it...but way better then a Gen1 WK (2005-2010). The new one (Gen 2 WK) just takes the whole thing to new plain. Speaking to usefulness there has been some talk of putting the Overland's optional air suspension on the SRT8....that would change things up a bit! A sports SUV that you can lift 2in (maybe more) with a flip of a switch? Baller. As the former owner of a Turbo Van I can say there is a certain charm to throwing a heavy vehicle with a high center of gravity into a turn...How many wheel bearings did we trash on 33 going to shoot?
Also on the SRT10. I was thinking about the one we had just this morning oddly enough. Does anyone remember using it to haul barriers back to facilities management after the show I brought it to? That was a tail happy SOB. The guy who bought it traded it back in in a year and I could have bought it for $22,000....call that a missed opportunity (to die).

I've always been intrigued by the Cayenne Turbo. Maintenance would be $$$, gas would be $$$, but it makes for an amazingly versatile vehicle. They're not gonna out rock-crawl a Jeep or anything but they are a lot more capable off road than you would think, and I for one just love the thought of a vehicle in which you could bring to a track day and enjoy, and then go off roading the very next day with no modifications other than changing the wheels and tires. I think a Cayenne Turbo would look badass with Touareg wheels and BFG All Terrains.

I've seen a couple of guys towing their moto race setup to the track with Cayennes. I guess if you're gonna set money on fire racing, might as well go whole hog.

There was a guy who came to VIR with NASA one weekend and instructed. He towed his dark gray 911 Turbo with a dark gray Cayenne. It was adorable.

We had a customer at the shop that towed his supercharged '96 M3 racecar with a gray Cayenne Turbo too. Guess its a pretty popular choice for people who need an expensive toy to move their expensive toys around.
Speaking of which my old boss at the shop just bought one for a parts truck. They're cheaper than dirt to buy now, and when you run a Porsche shop taking care of one isn't really a big deal I guess.

Forgive me guys, for I have sinned.
I went and test drove a Macan S last weekend and fucking loved it. About as fast as my Cayman in a straight line, the DCT was flawless, interior was great, really not much to dislike. Handling-wise it felt fairly nimble but you still a bit of roll because ultimately it's still a boat. A speedboat, but a boat nonetheless. Tows 5000 lbs, rear seat legroom and headroom is good but might not accomodate someone much over 6'2".
Other thing I didn't like is the rear roof line is pretty aggressive and it eats up some cargo room. Minor quibble I guess.
Wifey wants a SUV at some point in the not too distance future and this would probably be the funnest option in that size range (she doesn't want a bigger SUV like a MDX or X5...M). It's too expensive to really make sense for now but I'd love to snatch one of these up used in a few years.
I still feel wrong for liking these ridiculous things but ultimately I think I'd rather have a cheaper SUV and a nicer sedan so I'd have a hard time buying one unless I could still have my uber sedan.

I had to google Macan S. I'm either losing my edge or am not the target market, cause I had no idea that thing existed.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Is it based on the VW Tiguan or is it bigger than that?
