My experiences on a stationary bike, flying on a CRJ and backpacking in Toronto disagree. Oh and I charge my tablet once every other day. A lot you can do when you don't have to worry about finding a plug.
I'm not arguing that a tablet isn't somewhat useless. I'm arguing that by buying an "overpriced and underpowered" netbook, I got one that does 95% of what I used my laptop for plus a tablet thrown in. FWIW, I haven't used my laptop since I got it.

Evan Wrote:a tablet is insignificantly more portable than a laptop. you cant say you can take a tablet where you cant take a laptop. and much less functional. and could you see a tablet being your only computing platform? Sure you can. It's pretty difficult to use a laptop while standing up, unless you can put it on a flat surface. A tablet you can use in any position you like; standing, sitting down, laying on your back, whatever.
Think of it this way, why would you buy an ultraportable laptop or a netbook? After all, they have less computing power than a power laptop and they only get you marginal gains in portability. They have the same interface devices as a bigger laptop that it some cases makes them a little more difficult to use (smaller keyboard, smaller trackpad).
But with a tablet you do get some mobility you don't get with a netbook or ultraportable, and the touchscreen interface allows you to interact with it in different ways, although it slows down wpm dramatically.
I certainly couldn't use a tablet as my only computing devices unless it was while traveling. But, I program and make artwork on my laptop, someone who didn't have those needs (like my parents) might be able to get away with it.

Only thing I've noticed is you can choose whether programs not designed for full resolution are stretched or zoomed.

Anndddd my first official problem with the tablet. No longer charges. Doesn't seem to be an issue with the USB cable, seems to be that box thing that it plugs into because the tab still connects to my laptop via USB. I'm kind of surprised that you can't charge the tablet by connecting to a laptop or PC. Anyway ASUS wants me to ship the charger and cable back at my expense, which I am not that crazy about considering this thing is less than 2 months old. Probably going to peep Ebay / Newegg to see if I can find a cheap charger...it will probably end up costing me the same in the end than to ship it back and wait for them to fix it.

You can charge via USB if the tablet is off or in sleep mode.
When my wife's Gateway broke, they made her pay to ship it back the first time. They tried to make me pay second time, but I refused. They didn't even bother the third time.

Yeah you can trickle charge but it takes forever. I fixed it. Here's my post on XDA-developers forum. This might be helpful if it happens to you guys:
Hi XDA forum ppl, I think this is probably one of my first posts on here but I wanted to share how helpful the above post was and add on to it with some pictures to help everybody in case this might be the issue with their chargers too. I had the same exact issue as several have mentioned in this thread so far. TF101 wouldn't charge and:
- I had the 0B-1LF charger base as well
- The USB cable connected fine to the unit and to my laptop (I could access the tablet from my PC)
I spoke with ASUS and they wanted me to pay to send the charger and USB cable to a warranty center, which I personally think is ridiculous for warranty work, so I dug a little deeper.
After guessing that it was probably the charger base and reading the above post, I decided to look inside the port where the USB cable plugs in. Here's what you see (just copy and paste and remove the space between http and ://, this forum has some pretty ridiculous newb rules. I'm not a spammer)
There are a bunch of gold prongs on the bottom, but on the top of the port (closest to the ASUS logo) are two larger silver metal prongs that hold the USB cable in tightly and press it against the gold ones below. You can see them pretty clearly in the picture above.
I used a thumb tack to gently pry them back downwards toward the gold prongs so that the USB cable would seat better. Problem solved!
It's worth a shot before you all spend a couple of bucks shipping something to their warranty center. Hope that helps everyone.

My buddy just flew to Hawaii with the TF+Kb and reported the following: Total up time 16hrs, 10 hours just watching movies, and playing a couple of games, battery was at 78%.
I'm pretty sure it drains the keyboard fully before it starts dropping %, but he prolly had at least another 2 hours left. Pretty awesome.

Yup. I just went back in and said you've done them... so I dunno.
There's an easy warbuck for watching some YouTube video with Lindsay Lohan. You don't have to actually watch it, just click it and let the browser load the page.
