hopefully strong enough - most of the bolt on tow hooks i've seen bolt to the bumper support and they hold up fine. With a hole cut in the bumper, the loop will be able to articulate enough not to rip the bumper off. I would prefer to put bolts in the frame, but it would make the location of the loop really poor, and the u bolts would be too long, IMO - and i'm not even sure I could find a u bolt that long thats still load rated at 5,000 lbs.

That's why you make a custom mount on the frame and attach the U bolt, or whatever to it. At least that's my idea.

Let it sit outside for a few hours i bet the stuff comes up easier. Some of the guys on H-T said that the stuff on the german cars came up easier with heat though.

No mold fortunately. The car has been garaged for 2 years now. A little rust that requires some attention. The stuff that looks like mold in the picture is actually where the old insulation stuck to the floorpan as I ripped it up.

P.S. I weighed the parts I took out, 54.4 pounds! That's for the carpet and soft insulation forward of the center of the car, and the door pannels.
So, that takes the car to 2750 with driver and 1/2 tank of fuel. 215whp = 12.8 lbs/hp. Getting there... (11lbs/hp being the goal)
Removing the lower dash, all the hard sound deadening, adding a roll cage, and upping the boost to around 250whp should do it.

If you can strap a 20' ladder to the top of it bring it up this weekend, doens't look like the GT will be home in time
(but we should have heat, cross fingers that I don't blow myself up this afternoon)

No hijack inensions here, but wanted to share my progress as well:

As predicted a heat gun proved efficient in removing the insulation. Followed up with some adhesive remover and finishing with mineral spirits. Good enough for paint and primer!
And check those strange slots on the floorboard up front. Heck if I know what those were for!?
A saved the chunks of the hard sound deadening and weighed them in a plastic bag, total weight savings was ~21 pounds.
