So haven't updated in a while so here we go:
As per the previous, i eventually went ahead and bought that front license plate bracket. A little drilling here and there and she's on pretty tight.
I also went ahead and got my windows tinted, i just couldn't go without it. I can't help but feel like i am in a fishbowl and everyone is looking, so I went to the place i have for my past two cars and got all windows done at 15% for $195. As always it's a quality job.
Been a couple months that both have those have been done and, so far, no unwanted cop attention. Finally, about two weeks ago, i got the urge to do SOMETHING to the car. I realized i despised the "MITSUBISHI" and "LANCER" decals on the back, so i went ahead and removed those:
I had a friend here at work whose husband owns a body shop and his close friend runs a performance shop. Went there to get a price to have them custom fabricate a CAI. Got a price of 750 for them to run all new piping from the turbo on and place the filter just below my left headlight. I was going to settle on this until i saw someone on the EVOM forums selling their Cobb AP for 400, talked him down to 375 and had it shipped over. Installed that this past Wednesday and i am loving the difference. Car peaks around 24PSI and tapers off to about 18PSI. Pulls harder through the upper RPMs as opposed to the previous falling flat on it's face. I rans ome logs and am waiting for COBB to let me know if it looks good as the 2011 are still BETA phase. If anyone knows how to read them i would love someinput in the meantime.
Finally, I got myself out to an Auto-X. Have to say, I really missed it. It was actually a FRS/BRZ club event, so there was a bunch of them there, pretty cool to see them in action. They were holding pace with the Miata’s pretty well. Anyway, had to get used to the way they run things up here, as the only other place I had Auto-xed was Verona. Here, they have four heats, but you run in two of them. I suppose this is to force people to work and not bail out. Additionally, you are not allowed ride-alongs unless it’s an instructor. I paid $50, which I was initially pretty annoyed about until I was done and got 9 runs in.
Started off pretty rough, since I am used to using ride-alongs as a way to get my bearings of the course (walk throughs never quite do it for me) I went off course my first two runs. After I got a hold of it, things got much better. I started off at 59.6 seconds and came down to my best TOD of 50.658. Another Evo X with a wider wheel setup was there as well, it was his fourth event of the season, finished with a 49.6 so I was content with my result. Car held so well and was just so composed throughout the whole course, as opposed to the Ralliart which I pretty much fought to make every turn
.
Overall, I’m still really happy with the car; gets me to and from work with a smile on my face every day. Unsure of my next step from here, I definitely have to save up for new summer tires and I would like to have a dedicated wheel setup for that. I also want to do an exhaust and later down the line work on getting some better shocks and springs.
