After Evan won in 2006 some heavy hitters started showing up to NASA events. the front runners have so much in their cars its CRAZY. there are guys making a living off of prepping and keeping half a dozen miatas up front. I'm of the opinion that i would want to be no where near the middle of that type of racing...

I'm sure Olson would help you out DJ and give you the inside line on all the crap it takes to stay up front. He's done it with less money in the car then most... but i dont think he'd tell you the cheap econo spec racers is actually cheap.

i dont know what Rossini is charging for a motor, but the range is between $4500 and $7k for a "built" miata motor. i've "heard" guys going through 2-3 a season!

that being said... Honda Challenge wouldnt be any better as far as engine cost. there arent any H4 cars running right now, but when hizzyfest comes to town and the ITA guys show up... they have MONEY in those hondas.

Well if you are paddocking with MM, then of course but it would have ruined the joke if I said I was paddocking with the other Miata drivers.

MM, no matter the car, has the ability to reach out to anyone in the paddock. honda/bmw/miata/mustang/vette/firebird/legends/etc

we know people, are respected, and can get help when needed.

Wont be for a while if it is. As I said, I gotta drive one first to see if I can "get over" driving that thing on track.

They're so godawful slow. It's a great My First Track Car, but I could use another ~100 hp.

This is a good candidate: '94 R package (sports package), Laguna Blue. First year of the 1.8L but OBD-I for simplicity. 148k miles but looks clean/stock and if its been maintained its nearly a non-issue.

NICE! And you get a Torsen. Those are still dominant ES cars in autocross with some sticky tires.

First look back, I never said that :p I don't know how I got quoted that.

Second, I'm game, I'm curious where you are going with this even though it may get me. A 1:22.2. Hp is 229rwp and 3176 minimum weight.
