seriously now...

you have no idea how badass that feature is until you use it. it's... BADASS.

I've used it on a BMW before, and plus Juan, it's so handy.

I find myself wanting it off as much, if not more than, on but then I don't back into spots or parallel park very often.

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...

My Acura has that feature and it is definitely badass. I use it on a daily basis combined with the backup camera to get close to curbs so people don't door ding me. The only downside is that after 90,000 miles the power mirror motor is getting worn out and may need to be replaced soon.

I'm also a fan of the mirror tilting down. It's definitely useful for backing into parking spaces. The 5 only does it on the passenger side whereas Linds' TL can do it on both sides, which I think is even cooler...

But that's the thing about VW.

You'll have paradise by Check Engine Light for years. It'll run. It'll get you where you need to go. It won't kill you. But, will the windows roll down today? Will my radio controls be in English? If I unlock my car, will my windshield wipers go all exorcist on me? Will my glove box stay closed if I hit a speedbump? Will my turn signal honk my horn?

This is the life of a watercooled VW owner.

Humm that weird.. I dont recall having a single issue like that with my 15 or so VWs. Come to think about it I dont know anyone who has..

Crazy talk.

BTW mike. Sweet car. crazy to see you own a VW

Blair, number 1: You don't count. You lead a charmed life when it comes to autos.

#2: Tell that to my coworker and his broken down jetta.
#3: For that matter, tell my parents and their POS Diesel Jetta that would lock itself at random and the driver's side front brake would hang for no reason.

I think Blair is joking....or at least I hope he is.... Cause he totally knows Christine Ryan who has had multitude of problems with her jetta and electrical problems.

Hit 1k miles this weekend... Still absolutely love the car and don't 2nd guess the decision at all.

No, I haven't had the few issues resolved... No time.

The powerband puts all kind of smiles on my face.

Standard on E46/E39 and newer models.

Protip: If you dont want it on, flick the mirror selector switch under the adjustment knob to the passenger side.

bought middle of june... we're now in the middle of september. 3 month and 1400 miles... hah... i really don't drive anywhere.

car is great. i'm over the curbing that i did long ago. i love every minute of driving this thing... i had that feeling with the s2k too. i've got to admit i kind of miss turning heads, though. the s2k was a really beautiful car. this is just another car.

IM TIRED OF HAULING BIKES IN MY TRUNK. i need a rack. i don't like the idea of roof racks (efficiency hit, easy to ding car, wind noise) so i'm looking at hitch options. there are a few, but some are ugly, some hit the exhaust... bleh. might have to keep on waiting until somebody comes out with the perfect design. lots of traffic on vwvortex regarding them.

FWIW, my hitch costs me 3-4 mpg at 65 mph with bikes on it. It's probably a lot lower at city speeds but at higher speeds the bikes act like a parachute.

i really don't like the asthetics of the rack, but if you're really concerned about noise and the efficiency hit i would look into the Whisper Bars. They don't need a fairing and they look pretty sleek. I've noticed about a 2-3 mpg hit at 65mpg with or without bikes with my Thule. The convienience of the rack is sooo nice though. I feel the hitch-mount would also be a bit annoying if you have to take it on and off a lot (great if you only haul your bike once a month or something).

i'm very careful when loading the bikes, so i don't have any dings Tongue
