heh - ive never been to a track before other than the drag variety. I have actually picked this up, btw, i was just posting some pics of it. I wont know for sure if I'm getting it til saturday-ish. Hopefully the guy doesnt sell it out from under me or anything stupid like that. It would be the best of any of my cars to take to the track I'm certain for handling capability. I dont want to end up with a busted pile though - and since I'm a track newb, thats what would scare me about taking it out.

i would bet that you couldn't afford to lose it, so i would be hesitant to bring it to take on track for that reason - if i bought a new or newer car i probably wouldn't take it to the track immediately

20k, eh? Very nice. I think they look alot better than the Impreza, a little more "sports sedan" a little less "boy racer".

Hrmm - test drove an automatic tonight too - same price range, same miles....decisions decisions. I really want to get back into a straight drive - since my other cars are auto - just not sure if I'm going to want to do it all the time. I'm leaning toward the manual - but I think I've decided that if the dealer gets me a better interest rate than my bank, might go with it, since the straight is private seller. Bustin your balls to make a buck makes you think about these things too, unfortunately.

i think you owe it to yourself to get the manual 8) ...especially with it being a "smaller" engine. some days i'm sure it will be annoying but given the right road and the right time, you'll be thanking yourself you aren't driving a slushbox.

Eh sport-shift autos are so worthless you might as well not use em. Get the manual, any time you row through the gears or execute a perfectly rev-matched downshift you'll thank yourself.

Congratulations on your prospective purchase! Awesome looking car. I'm with Evan on this one, go for the manual, if you've already got two automatics, you need a manual. Smile

i haven't used any form of those yet, but i'm just not a fan...i think you lose the true manual experience.

definitley go with manual, e-shift/tiptronic, whatever BS is not a manual, it's for those that can't drive manual and would like to think they can

The only 'good' auto/manual options are going to be the ones based off of a manual gearbox (BMW SMG, etc) or the Audi DSG.
