Yea but I don't think the 16's look that much better than the Tuscon.
My dad doesn't want AWD. Just fwd.
Edit: also apparently the Tuscon was developed on the Nurburgring so that's something, right?!

daaaang that flake pops like crazy with the opticoat. looks sharp! love that nice satin tire coating too, so much nicer than the super greasy car lot shine.

Lee, how much was it to do the opticoat on the new car? Did they do any paint correction before putting it on?
Asking for a friend that is buying a new car in a few weeks.

I'm interested to know this as well. I was looking at places near me and it seemed to hover around $1000 for ceramic coatings. I thought that was wild so I talked to Dan and got his take. He said the coating isn't overly expensive, $250 - $350. The expensive part is the correction before hand. No point in doing the coating if the paint is still crap underneath. He also made the point from the business owner's end that they need to extract maximum money out of the consumer when they do the coating because it lasts 1-2 maybe 3 years. Essentially every customer they have is a new customer because of this.

Yeah, if you want to do it the earlier the better while the paint is still in good shape! That is definitely true that the less correction that needs to be done the less it will cost. The CX-5's paint was mostly flawless which helped a lot, but it's still a big vehicle and you have to do a full detail and minor corrections beforehand (there was a little bit of swirling from a detail that must have been done on the lot). We also had him remove some of the "protective film" the dealer had installed in the door handle cups and on the door edges.
The guy here did the entire car including paint, glass and wheels for $750. From the other quotes on this I have heard out there, the amount of hours and quality of work of the job I felt that was reasonable and about what I was expecting. I want to get my truck done eventually but the paint has definitely seen more wear and didn't come off the lot in as nice of shape. I am fully expecting to spend probably double that for the Canyon

Welp after calling the prior dealership inquiring about where we were on our backordered parts a month later, it turns out they never ordered any parts at all. I asked to talk to the service manager, never got a call back so I blasted them on an online review. They asked me to private message my number to have someone call, I did and told them it was fine, then they message back and ask me to call the GM of the dealership. Nah I'm good homie, I'm done leaving messages for these peasants who can't conduct proper business.
So I drop it by another Mazda dealer (we've got 3 in the area to choose from) and so far the experience is night and day. They keep the car for a few days and tell me they can't replicate the popping sound from the suspension. I take a drive with the service director and instantly replicate it under a few different circumstances, so at least they know we aren't crazy. I've got a 2017 Mazda 6 rental so it isn't all that bad, but I'm not super confident they are going to figure out what it is. BTW driving low, slow 4 door sedans sucks....I don't know why people do it
I've got one more dealership I can hit if this one can't figure it out. I thought Mazda was supposed to be a leader in suspension stuff? Surprised this is an issue on a car with less than 5k miles

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
Replacing front shock and control arm. We'll see if that does the trick

So after getting basically an entirely new front suspension, the clunk is gone and the CX-5 drives wayyyy better. I always thought it felt a little floaty/divey in the front, so that would make sense if there was some kind of issue with the shocks. I have to say the Mazda dealer was supremely excellent through a LOT of troubleshooting, so I have to leave them a good review and send in a letter or something.
I have to say this SUV is pretty incredible, especially now that it handles like it is supposed to  Hopefully this will be the last big thing we have with it!

The CX5 got skewered by a huge piece of industrial machinery that flew off a big rig not far from where DJ is moving to. I was proud of wifeys driving skills, she dodged the biggest piece that was flying at her head Final Destination style. But a big piece of pipe fitting impaled the front bumper near the fog light. Another big piece went under her car and possibly caused some damage. There's some kind of system error CEL so we'll find out what it broke.
Fortunately she had the mind to get a glimpse of the trucking company name and the truck number! Hopefully they will for the bill foot the deductible, etc. After a 4 hour round trip to get her and worrying the entire way, i don't think i will be sanctioning any more long distance family visits by herself

Because of a freak accident, you don't want her driving alone? What's the reasoning there?

This, too, was my reaction. I do sympathize with your worry and time between getting there etc, that's not fun to say the least, but also, that's life unfortunately. Shit happens.
