What would you be able to buy for 100 grand to put under a hood? A jet engine? I doubt a funny car engine is even that much.

It wouldn't matter what Jesse put under the hood, he'd use his nawz too soon.

A funny car engine DEFINITELY costs more than that. $100k might be barely enough to get one of the 2.65L turbo CART engines. It'd probably fit too. Could probably get 1000 hp out of it with no problem, just wouldn't last terribly long.

Why would you guys even waste time arguing over what is faster stock.
Let's just jump straight to the heart of it all and ask, what has ran a quicker 1/4 mile? A 2.0 liter turbo ecotec or a naturally aspirated F22C?
Fuck it...sorry, I'm not being fair. Give the S2K a turbo...that will be a good comparison right?

-T You can't use the modified vs modified argument when one of the cars isn't for sale yet. As for ultimate power potential, who knows, chances are that for the first few thousand dollars the Ecotec will come out ahead.

Is Honda gonna build the S2000 for another 4 years? GM has come out with this competition, it leads me to believe that they are trying to take S2K customers. But if Honda is done after the AP2, they have lost out.

claiming anything would be pure speculation. sales figures have been consistent over the past few years so if honda has been happy in the past, they have no reason to cease production unless there is some "master plan."
sure, this new roadster has more potential (per dollar) than an s2k, but dodge tried the same thing with the srt4 and people didn't buy in to it. there is just too much of a stigma around american turbocharged cars. my .02... regardless, i think the car will sell very well at first.

People didnt buy into the srt-4, are you mad? Maybe rethink what you said after you look at the sales figures.
And a turboed engine 95% of the time has much more potential than an already stressed out 2.0 liter with a 9000rpm or 8100 rpm redline.

Supposedly there will be another RWD sports car to replace it though.

i kinda agree with the first part. the SRT-4 was, as american sport compacts go, a big hit.
as for the last part, the potential depends on whether you're talking stock for stock or potential with some more in depth modification. the F22C is an animal with some internal work and a turbo thanks to that same super high redline....makes up for the displacement deficit with that.
oh yeah....Honda, please make an S2K hardtop coupe. pleeeassee

i have to think if it sold well and they made money on it, we wouldn't see calibers everywhere. or maybe it was a final goodbye to the neon? either way, i don't see nearly as many around as i expected following all the hype they got by fanboi street racer y0 dude crowd.
