you don't. you have to go by what you observe and the reactions you see from your changes. that's part of what makes it so challenging.
it's basically the same thing as setting a car up in Gran Turismo. you're not connected to the car physically, so you have to observe and adapt.
you need to try one of these things out, RJ 8)

an 8 turn....ha you better put some insane super glue on your tires or else those things are gonna fly off the rims!
the one thing i hated about electric so much was the batteries. expensive, and after 4 or 5 years, pretty much wasted. plus waiting to charge a battery up was just a pain in the ass.

i have a $400 charger, conditioner, etc for them... i can bring them back to at least practice pack status... but i bought 4 packs a year to hand match and build.... 3 qualifing packs and one race pack... i burn my practice packs in open practice.
RJ.... my diffs have bearings in them that are as small as the ball in a ball point pen. and i hand built the car... not RTR... custom stuff... expensive little toys for it...
i used to race in the "spec" 19T class... everyone uses the same light mod motor... that you tweek to your style... i used to like it to spin... high brush contacts with the lightest springs i could find for the motor. but with all the light weight drive train... i could go from the last qualifying position... to the front a the sound of "go" because of it... if i didnt get wrecked or break i would win....
there is a new TC4 that came out... i have a TC3... i still think i can compete with the last generation because of how well that car works.

the difference in "speed" at the top end isnt that great... maybe 10mph.... but i have instance acceleration. you get longer run time as well... but driving a nitro sedan and an electric sedan are two totally different animals. the nitro cars you toss into corners... the electrics you have to feather throttles lightly and set up with corners more like you would a real road course.

i had a hard time adjusting from electric to nitro because of that. nitro just doesnt have the low-end but the top end was amazing.

the reason nitro cars go through tires so quickly is because you literally are tossing it (semi drift) to the spot where it hooks up.... turn 1s at all out door asphalt tracks that run nitros are awesome for the electrics... they turn into the only corners you can pass anywhere on entry because of all the sticky stuff left over from the nitro cars....
btw bump drafting is frowned on... unless its between friends and you dont cause too much of a scene with the others...
RC car guys are notorious NASCAR guys... so side to side contact is generally "fine" because the cars can get close and get twitchy at speed.
droop theories are going to wrack your brain for a while... ride height, shock set up, springs, sway bars...
you'll be in a new "car" by next year hand building them and breaking them nitro cars break because they hit shit SO fast lol.

i drove on it once with my B3 buggy....it was amazing. the front straight tabletop had my car a good 7 feet off the ground at least.

2wd or 4wd? i'm more inclined to go the 2wd buggies... but i havent looked at RC cars in a long time... i have NO idea if there are 2wd buggies in nitro... i'd like to go to nitro though and get away from electric... a motor once a year and gas... plus tweeking...
i used to do the pitstops for one of the locals at the nitro sedan enduros... one set of tires and about 4 tanks of gas a race... but they were SO much fun...

Pit stops? You guys are way too into this shit

well a nitro car will run about 20 min... in an enduro where its 40 min... you really need 3 stops so you dont fuel starve the little single piston motor and not finish the race...
its just another form of racing RJ... once you see one break traction with 4 wheels... drift through corners... make high speed passes.... people push braking zones... and you can see the entire track... its almost as good as watching road racing

the off road cars are alot of fun because you get to watch them take doubles and triples... table tops... its like motorcross.

mike what 4wd buggy are you getting... maybe the 3 of us should get the "same" kit and run them together somewhere locally... we can take them to summit and beat the hell out of the grass paddock area.
