Yeah they are 18x7.5 up front and 18x8.5 in the rear. I do really like the Apex EC-7's on these cars, but I like the stock ones enough that I'll probably just keep them for a while. More money to spend elsewhere. Maybe I'll powdercoat them at some point since they do have some curb rash from the first owner. BLINGMW Wrote:wow that smart key souds sooo smart! Don't feel left out Channing. I'm the only one in my household that still has to go through the daily grind of shoving a key in a hole to start my car. I have to find the key, hold the key, hit the button to unlock it AND hit the little flippy button thing to open it, THEN i have to insert it, AND twist.

Yeah. My malibu key fobs have both quit working. It's annoying as shit to even lose the remote unlock feature. The only door that has a keyhole is the drivers door. The cadillac has a smart key and it's definitely convenient as shit. It too has the little buttons on the handle to unlock/lock each door separately if you have the keyfob in your pocket

Did the exhaust golf tee mod over the weekend. Essentially it's just plugging a vacuum line. Gives you a bit more sound.
Also I put in the new angel eye lights. These are just white instead of the stock amber ones.

JB4 + Intakes on the way. I'll probably also order a charge pipe and bov tonight so I don't screw up my OEM charge pipe and/or diverter valves. Well I was going to do the install of JB4 + intakes and the Active Autowerke charge pipe and blow off valve yesterday, but the JB4 and intake package didn't get delivered because UPS wanted a signature.
Either way, I went ahead and installed the charge pipe and blow off valve in preparation. Install took a little longer than it should've just because this was the first time I've taken anything apart in the engine bay so there is always that little learning curve when you're figuring out how things come apart. While on some platforms it's not good to run an actual blow off valve, on these it doesn't hurt performance at all since they have MAP sensors rather than MAF's. The factory charge pipe and diverter valves tend to leak if you up the boost at all so an aftermarket charge pipe and blow-off valve is necessary. You can get diverter valves that go back into the intake like the factory set up, but they are more expensive. Plus the PSSSHHHHHH noise brings joy to my ricer heart. This BOV is fairly loud, but inside with the radio on a normal level you don't hear it at all driving normally. It will likely get some "WTF is that a turbo'd BMW" looks from people outside though. It should still be less attention than I got with the Evo IX so it's all good. ![]() One thing I did notice is that I definitely need an oil catch can. The factory charge pipe was coated in oil so I can only imagine how much is setting in the bottom of the intercooler. I guess I'll install one whenever I get around to pulling the intake manifold to clean off the intake valves. Damn direct injection.

RawrImAMonster Wrote:Damn direct injection. When I pulled the manifold off the VW there was so much build up it had to be constricting airflow. I've seafoamed it at least twice since I've had it, and did my best to scrub/scrape/vacuum the gunk out of the valves when I had the manifold off. All of this before 65k miles, I should probably think about doing it again... My E36 on the other hand has sparkly clean, honey colored valves at 185k miles. Now: 07 Porsche Cayman S | 18 VW Tiguan

Yeah I'm going to buy a media blaster if I can't find someone that has one and use walnut shells to clean them off like the BMW dealers will do if you give them 800 dollars. Seems fairly simple. Just rotate the crank so the valves are closed when you're blasting that particular one so you don't get walnut chunks in the cylinder. But yeah, a catch can will help prevent a lot of this once you get them cleaned off well.

I've thought about a catch can but they're really expensive for what they are, at least for my motor. I'm most likely only keeping it for another 10-15k miles so I'm hesitant to invest any money in it that isn't a necessary repair.

Catch can is a good call if you plan to keep that car a while. I had one on my CTS and had to explain to the dealer who bought it what it was and what it was for.
