Negative is one has a slight crack, still holds air, he only noticed it once he took them off. He had a quote to have them repaired but since he sold his GTI he didn't care anymore. let me know if you're interested.

Im interested depending on the condition of the faces. Do you know how much he was quoted to have it repaired? And is he selling them with or without tires? Are they down here in Va or in LI by you? Let me know if you can get me some more info on them.

I'll ask him for pictures, no idea on repair amount. They have tires on them, some type of Kumho's but he said they got at best about 1K left on them.... they're up here in LI

Yea Im definitely interested in pictures and once I get back to NJ LI isnt too far.

The last Enkeis I posted from tire rack up there are looking more and more attractive. TireRack has Hankook V12s for $111 each with free mounting and balancing. So about $1350 total with wheels and tires and $300 cheaper than the VMRs but still a similar look.

You should check out the Kuhmo 4Xs too. They are $109 in that size and come with a $50 mail in rebate. I've had several sets of 'em, definitely my favorite All Season. They are 400TW and seem to be holding up really well on the E39. The E36 kinda shredded the ones on the rear but I'd blame my affinity for powerslides before I'd blame the tire.

4x's here too - my interest in them was driven heavily by a great sale price tirerack had on them last year. really a nice allseason....i drive them hard, and aside from a softish sidewall, they grip pretty nicely while still being nice and quiet on the interstate. hell, i've even rallycrossed on them and they dig in surprisingly well.

Thoughts on these being 235 tires instead of 225? Too much rubber? I dont mind it, I just dont want too much sidewall flex.

If I pick these up, Ill be paying $1k for a $2k setup, and thats a hell of a deal.

Wheels are paid for and are being shipped today or tomorrow! God this summer job couldn't start soon enough...

I forgot about it until I saw BFisch's Sky project thread. When I was home in early april for a weekend I took the car out for a quick was and cruise. I noticed an "off tempo" tick, different from the DI tick I know pretty well. Looks like I have some vagcom logs to run when I get home in a few days. Im considering picking up a set of R8 coil packs also, just because.

I also want to attack the rest of the swirls and etching in the paint one in one of the next couple weekends. I corrected most of the hood last summer, but never got around to the rest of it. Ive only tried Griot's machine polishes 2 and 3 and they weren agressive enough, so Ill try something a little more invasive. I have a friend who has access to a dealership down the road, so he and I will hopefully bang out the correction in a couple of hours and dress her up 'real nice to start the summer off right.

Oh yea... they look gooooood. Although I think I need 75.1 to 57.1 rings for them. I should have everything sorted out and have them on this weekend.

If only I could find good wheels for a good price, need a decent set of summer tires/wheels, 5x114.3 that arent going to break my wallet...

There are some pretty sweet wheels that I was looking at that came in 114.3 and not 112. Finding these for the price I paid was just luck.

Thanks, Ive been catching some heat for them all over the place, but I couldnt be happier with them.

A quick picture from waterfest this past weekend

The red grill stripes are really starting to erk me. Maybe Ill paint them black...

Also, I almost picked up an SPM down pipe at waterfest for stupid cheap (295, the cheapest out there at this discounted price) and went stage 2 but I hesitated Sad I should have jumped on it for that cheap.
