What's your unicorn car?
#21
Well, I'm not really getting at the "if I were rich" kind of car. More like, "if it was sold here", "if it were made", or "if I could find one" type of thing. Like maybe you'd buy a Mastretta MXT if it were sold here. Or if you could find a low mileage RX-7 R2 or a LS-swapped RX-7 for not much. I'm talking about the kind of car that you would 100% find a way to make it happen given the opportunity.

They actually have a driving experience where you can drive one on track for $500. Only 3 15-minute sessions but when else are you gonna get to drive a car with that type of performance? I'm considering doing it next spring.

Shit, I forgot. GNX.

I'd even settle for a 1987 GN that had a better paint job than a 10 footer for a decent price. Unmodded, and with the black bottle cap wheels.

Saw a dude driving one with drag radials on the street the other day. First time I've seen one on the road in YEARS.

We all almost felt like we should buy the car because as enthusiasts, it's one of the few times in recent memory where a car has been made that is almost exactly what we asked for.
yeah, and as I said in the begging thread, Im so annoyed that it took them so long to bring it to market. it really is the perfect enthusiast car. not some lame lardass grand tourer for fat americans that gets passed off as sports cars. but not a fruity little cute convertible that forces us to sacrifice a touch of masculinity to drive either.

If it came out when they said it would, I woudl have been driving one for the past 2 years and it would be in my driveway right now. But now I have to pretend to be a grown up, be all responsible, and prepare for the possiblitiy of procreation etc etc.

Even so, Im still tempted to sell the Exige and buy one.
But that feels so wrong, trading an Exige for a...toyota

Might not be long before that happens. Supposedly the next WRX will be lighter than the current one.

In the "if it were made" category that I could honestly justify:

make it AWD with TDi

The "for me" car would be a nicely done 240z with LS.

My unicorn car would have to be a well put together, decently priced T-bucket roadster. I've always wanted one.

my car love is still mostly rooted in the 90's. i loved the styling, i loved the balance of speed and simplicity, and i guess i was a kid at the time so everything just had more of an impact on my imagination. most of my attention was on the rally cars overseas.

if import and registration laws ever become reasonable and i could find one under $30K, it would come down to exactly these two, and i'd buy one.

i know i know...old 4x4 turbo hatchcraps instead of legit supercars? it makes no sense, and i don't make any apologies for that. they are just awesome in my mind and i'd drive the hell out of one.

Bright purple metallic WS6 Trans Am with a 6 speed. I think they made around 6 of them with those options, and only in 1998 so it is hard to tell how many of them are left. One came up for sale while I was looking for a car, but at the time it was out of my price range. And no, a re-sprayed one doesn't count.

1970 Boss 429. Any color would do. Just something about them...

The Torino is pretty close, but obviously not the best optioned version, or in good condition haha. Wouldn't mind having another '70 with the SCJ and the drag pack at some point.

The first time I ever laid eyes on these cars, I instantly fell in love. It was the 'gotta have it' mentality and still is. I did not think the 355 would be a favorite, interesting. As you can see, the 90s is my favorite decade for cars.

1997 F355 Berlinetta or 95 Challenge
1998 Silvia

Others that are up there on the list

Why a '98? OBD2 and VVTI sucks for modding compared to the older models. Buy a 94 or 95 and buy some of the black backed headlights aftermarket and have the best of both worlds.
