To the above poster:
Don't worry about it, the guys in the club are really laid back and friendly. I brought my crappy Mustang and wasn't chased off with pitchforks or anything!
HerNameIsSway Wrote:Hey guys, I'm new to this forum! Friend of mine told me about this event and I want to know, before I make an ass of myself, can any car enter this event? I dont want to enter my AE86 if this is really a Porsche/BMW event or something.
I dont want anyone saying "WTF is THAT car doing here?!"
Please let me know, this might be my first auto-x event and I have been trying to find one local.
Thanks!
Absolutely not, I have autocrossed everything from miatas, bmws, lexus (yes lexus automatic boat :lol , to civics to mercedes. This event is not restricted to MB owners, as I will be bringing my M3 to this event most likely. Just show up and introduce yourself if you havent already to MM people (we will have MM badges on our cars). If you cant find us, look for the white M3 (one of two in MM that will be there) and ask for Dj, thats me. Would be awesome to have you out there, those AE86s are tricky with their short wheelbases, but are awesome for autocross.

Do it. We'll park our M3's next to each other and enjoy the scorn of the Mercedes nuts for bringing the direct enemy.

Registration begins at 8 AM. Those of us coming from JMU are aiming for a 8 to 8:15 arrival time. I think first car goes at 9:30 or so. Cost is $30, bring cash.
You get three runs in the AM session that are for 'practice' as the times don't count. Everyone breaks for lunch, then they do a PM session with three to four more runs that are your 'legit' counted times. Great group of people who are very friendly and willing to help if you're new or fairly inexperienced with AX.
I'm figuring we'll go somewhere quick for lunch... there are some places within a 5-10 minute drive of the high school.
Ending time for the day is pretty early... I've only driven once with these guys, but I think we were done by 3:30 or 4.
Now:
'16 Ram 1500 | '97 BMW M3 | Some Press Loan
Then:
87 BMW 325e | 91 BMW 535i | 96 BMW 328i | 95 BMW 325i | 95 Mazda Miata | 13 Focus ST | 09 BMW 128i | 00 Pontiac Firebird | 05 Yukon Denali | 96 BMW 328iC | 11 Ford F-150 | 06 BMW M3 | 10 Range Rover SC | '03 Ford Ranger | '18 Ford F-150 | '01 BMW X5 | '98 Volvo S70 T5M
Well I get off work at 8am and it's a 1 hour drive so I won't see you guys til 9am-ish.

If ur not getting there til 9. I would highly recommend cleaning your car out the night before, removing anything u won't need for the auto-X, school crap, car mats, etc..... 30 min isn't much time to do all that, tech, and registration. Good luck peoples.
What do they check for during tech inspection?
Sway: Supercharged 1985 Corolla GT-S (AE86)
no loose crap in your car that can fly around, battery is tied down securley, throttle spring works and closes without any problems, and no like major problems. Must remove floor mats and can remove the spare/jack if you want. Nothing to crazy. I just know i always have a ton of crap in my car, and have learned to clean it out before hand to save myself 30 minutes of removing useless crap.
AutoX tech sounds the same as drifting tech, so I'm good :-D

Just so you guys know, I'm a guy (someone already mistaken me for a girl by my username) and I am hearing impaired.
This will be my first non-drift event so if anyone can help me out at the track with meetings and rules and how to run the event, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I won't personally be there, but if you go up to anyone with an MM sticker on their car I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help with anything you need. Just introduce yourself and above all else have fun!
